History Repeats again
ON July 10, 1040 AD Barroness Godiva , for what she is best known
accomplshed her greatest Triumph by riding naked on horseback across Coventry England
as a Protest of the Taxes implsed by her husband, Leofric. Of course there may have been other reasons,
yet this is the best known reason.
At the time of this ride she was 50 years old. And a most attractive and very svelte buxom and shapely 50
Yet her life was not one without great personal tragedy. Perhaps her greatest Tragedy, Or SO I am convinced
occurred in 1066 AD, during the Norman COnquest. Although her beloved Husband Leofric, was Norman, Lady GOdiva was a Saxon Woman
The Battle of Stanford Bridge and the better known and more documented Battle Of Hasatings brought the Normans to Power in England,
This a full 9 years after the death of the Love of her Life, Earl LEofric of Mercia in 1057 AD at 89 Years of Age. He was a full 22 years her senior.
Godiva , now an old old woman, at 76, had seen her Saxon Empire for whom she most valiantly struggled , gone at the hands of the Invading Norman Hordes.
The Followign Year in 1967 AD Lady GOdiva would bow her head and surrender the GHose, TO go home to Eternal Glory to rejoin the love of her life, Her Darling Leofric.
Perhaps I now am knowing my personal Battle of Hastings in the form of the explosion at Imperial Sugar.
Only one year after my emulation of Lady Godiva, all be THAT ina most Caligulan Fasion, by my own admission.
This bneing the explosion at The Imperial Sugar Factory in Port Wentworth, Port Wentworht's Equivelant of 911, as was sated already.
I can only ask that teh Will of a Merciful and BOuntiful God be done. Nothing More I cna ask.
As I am certian Lady Godiva asked.
Amen
