As it often happens to me, this morning I visited another author's site to read something, and while there, spotted a link to another author's post entitled "Lord of the Flies" by ERIN ELIZABETH KELLY-MOEN.
After reading her excellent piece, I just had to comment. Subsequently, I also copied and pasted said comment in WORD. I have taught myself to do this, simply as an act of saving, just in case I want to post it later.
So, my fellow Venusians and Martians - I highly recommend that you peruse of abovementioned author, the novel, and the movie.
if you enjoy DRAMA - it's there - in all three!
ERIN - Superb analogy, review, and commentary!
As a 17 year-old senior in HS, I read this book as a reading assignment in 1954. I couldn't put the book down, and finished it over a weekend. That was 50 years ago!
When the movie came out, nine years later, I loved it! This set of young actors truly portrayed the symbolisms presented in the novel. While I have never gotten 'into' the TV SURVIVORS series, I believe that "Lord of The Flies" would just HAVE to be the origin of this concept.
The discovery of the Parachutist was a fascinating example of LOST HOPE! Survival of the Fittest was also exemplified in this great novel and movie.
ERIN - Now that you have piqued my interest again, I went to NETFLIX and just discovered that a REMAKE of the movie was done in 1990 - IT is now in my que!
Thank you for a nostalgic walk down "Memory Lane!" Tom.
