We as a church body, a body of believers need to be held accountable for our actions, by that I mean we need not to just be Sunday Christians, as I grew in my relationship with Christ, I began to notice that there was a difference from so called Sunday Christians and those who lived in faith all weeks, in highschool, my Senior year I was saved
I heard a wonderful sermon at Church today about giving before you look at me like I have heard this before or you think that the Pastor of my church drives a brand new mercedes and lives in a mansion its not the case at all, but the Lord has blessed our church because of the principal of giving it instills and I am not only talking about Money it goes beyond that, its about reaching out to people about feeding a hungry generation, and as our Pastor said some of the poorest people are the ones with millions in there bank accounts but without Christ in there heart, and yes of course he had biblical principals to back this up the first one he pointed out was from Proverbs 3:9-109 Honor the LORD with your wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine.
I have a confession to make, I have struggled with the principals of tithing for awhile, but this lesson today really brought somethings to light for me and I came to the realization that I need to work on that particular area in my life. I am by no means rich, we live from hand to mouth at times, this is a struggling economy, but does that mean I should not give , perhaps it means I should be more willing to give because I have faced that struggle myself. I know what it is to struggle.
Another point the pastor brought up was there is only one thing we can do on earth that we cant do in Heaven, and that is reaching others for Christ. And we need to be able to allow ourselves the opportunity to witness, and we need to step out of our comfort zone.
Another scripture point that the Pastor brought up was in Malachi 3:7-12
7 Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you," says the LORD Almighty.
"But you ask, 'How are we to return?'
8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me.
"But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'
"In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse?the whole nation of you?because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the LORD Almighty. 12 "Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land," says the LORD Almighty.
We are in a convenant relationship with Christ, which means we must do our part as well. We need to have that gathering place of fellow believers. We need to be able to turn to the House of the Lord, and yes in a sense we are the house of the Lord, but the Church has its place in well.
In the new Testament he gave us examples from Matthew 21;13
13"It is written," he said to them, " 'My house will be called a house of prayer,'[a] but you are making it a 'den of robbers.'[b]"
In 1 Timothy 3:15 the scipture says:
if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.
In 1st Peter 4:17
For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
We as a church body, a body of believers need to be held accountable for our actions, by that I mean we need not to just be Sunday Christians, as I grew in my relationship with Christ, I began to notice that there was a difference from so called Sunday Christians and those who lived in faith all weeks, in highschool, my Senior year I was saved, and I witnessed what a true Christian was from friends who would not be afraid to sit down with me and pray over my needs, those same friends would go out of there way to help me in other ways that allowed me to grow in Faith.
The sermom today was so inspiring it took two pages of notes to get down what I wanted to say, and this is only the first part of what I want to write about this, I am sure I will find more to say, more revelations brought to me by the Lord. I just thought all of us who believe and those of us who are struggling should have a little food for thought.
