The Moratorium on Selfishness
In the perusal of the issues that exist in our communities today...I've discovered that there's an immediate need for a moratorium on selfishness. Over time ,…we've somehow.. Inconspicuously become less humanitarian and less compassionate…There's an immediate need for… a call to action.
This call to action requires the masses to be proficient in Servant Leadership. It requires that we expeditiously..become philanthropic creatures. There's a demand for love in our world, yet the supply seems..to be abating as each day goes by.
In our consistent pursuit of happiness, we've somehow disconnected from the "Least of These." The demand for social reform in our communities, and communities abroad..Has been neglected. The pursuit of public acknowledgement… somehow became part of the equation. The human need for significance …detailed in the studies of Alfred Adler..give opportunity to our less compassionate, less loving, less giving characteristics.
The call for a moratorium on selfishness requires that we think and act as… the Servant Leader would think and act.
The Servant Leader understands that ….self is the last priority. He/she finds significance in placing the regard for others ..before their own; which requires selfless service and sacrifice for the well being of others….
Everybody is important to the Servant Leader….everyone can play a role. He/she understands that God gave us the ability to Love. Every one can reach out..in their own capacity, and play a part. The Servant Leader is a diligent helper. he/she teaches others how to help..he/she teaches others how to love.
The Servant Leader is focused on being effective. We have to understand that everyone is different. Every one has different needs and wants…..every one gets the point; in a different way. It's extremely vital that we teach others how to be teachers. Your voice may not be the voice that a troubled teen wants to hear, but you probably know someone that can reach out to them…your voice may not sit well on the ears of…drug dealers and users, but you probably know someone who can reach them. The Servant Leader does not give up hope. He/She does not give up on people. He/She influences everyone he/she meets to become, better people; effectiveness is the tool.
When you bring everyone around you up..they are more inclined to share that same love with their circle. He/She does not seek reward. He/she is focused on creating a better life for the ones who will come after us. He/She does not seek leadership; Leadership seeks the Servant Leader.
The Servant Leader understands that… no person should be left behind. Its absolutely critical that we all develop; its necessary for us all to grow. He/She is not focused on status nor celebrity….We're focused on spreading Love.
The Moratorium on selfishness… demands that we have vision. It requires us to pursue a destination that reaches far beyond our dreams. In doing so, we become more proficient givers. In doing so, we become empowered to create more opportunities and options. He/She understands that…He/She is a living example of hope..for somebody.
The Servant Leader seeks the opportunity to serve. He/She serves with love.
The Servant Leader feeds the hungry, clothes the naked, visits the sick, and loves his/her neighbor. He/She serves their community. Show them how to be involved, show them how to make contribution. Encourage them to…be a better community. If it takes hosting a community function..do it, and make sure everyone comes; even the neighborhood drunk. Get your communities together. Make it fun, but have an important discussion. Ask them what their needs are. Show them what resources are available to them. Make every one understand that they are valued. As a community, make the choice to..help each other get better everyday. Find out what they dream, help them along the way, and encourage them to be encouragers. Be committed to better conditions, situations, and circumstances; for everyone.
He/She understands the difference between authority and leadership. A figure of authority enforces action. The Servant Leader influences action. This is accomplished through diligent service and a passion for serving. If you're with a group of people, and a homeless man/woman ask you for spare change…you give, and you give from the heart. Your giving may influence someone else to give.
Sacrifice going to the movies, sacrifice going to a restaurant; feed a family who wakes up to poverty everyday..There's babies dying. If you're a barber, cut a child's hair who's family cant afford a haircut right now. If you've made it out of a ghetto, go back and visit from time to time...offer some guidance to someone who's searching for a way out.
The Servant Leader Association does not require membership. There's no monthly fee's, nor obligation to duty. To be a Servant Leader..you simply have to think/act as the Servant Leader would think/act. You have to Love, as the Servant Leader should Love. You have to be a Servant to others, especially those referred to as "The Least of These." He/She must adhere to the moratorium on selfishness. The Servant Leader is a teacher. He/She teaches the principles of Servant Leadership to all. The Servant Leader teaches by example. He/She understands that they are hope..
The Servant Leader should organize a group to feed the homeless. This group should operate on a frequent basis. When that group is unable to perform..the Servant Leader should go out by themselves and do, as the Servant Leader would do.
The Servant Leader should make contribution. There are many organizations and causes that are trying to make this world a better place. There are families all over the world that suffer from poverty. There are women and children being abused..all over the world. We're there's a need..the Servant Leader contributes.
The Servant Leader is resourceful. HE/She understands that..people are in need of guidance. Being a resource simply means, that you are able to point someone in the right direction. He/She is a supporter. A supporter who does not mind..being of service.
The Servant Leader is humble. The Servant Leader does not discriminate. He/She is passionate about creating a better world; for everyone.
The Servant Leader is a righteous person. Perfectly created to be of service. A voice where there is no voice. A symbol of peace where there is no peace. Hope where there is no hope.
The world needs more Servant Leaders. The people are hurt…Most feel as if, no one cares. The world is full of hurt people, hurting; hurt people. The Servant Leader is equipped with Love. Love is the only weapon that is needed.
