Jenifer Rothschild was asked once in a television interview, if she could see one thing again for a moment, what would it be. She quipped at the time "It's like Lays you can't have just one." But when she got home, she got to thinking on the subject, there were so many things she would love to see, the faces of her children, the faces of her parents again, her husband, but in the end she decided she would want to look upon the word of God, Psalm 63:
1 O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
6 On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.
7 Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
8 My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.
9 They who seek my life will be destroyed;
they will go down to the depths of the earth.
10 They will be given over to the sword
and become food for jackals.
11 But the king will rejoice in God;
all who swear by God's name will praise him,
while the mouths of liars will be silenced.
Some may look at that as a strange thing to want to see, they may not understand why she would want to read the words for herself, when she has teaching tapes, and CD's that can read them for her, but she says this; "I know that God's word is much more than mere words written on the page." A powerful truth right? Why is it then that so many of us with 20/20 vision loose our Spirtual sight, by letting our Bibles collect dust on a shelf, so many of us don't let the word dwell in our heart.
I want to take the word to heart, I want to remember in the end that's what is going to matter in the end is going to be that we truly followed Christ, that I will find comfort in his word. When we discipline ourselves in the word it will lead to delight . And delight will always lead to desire to long for the Word, more than we long for life is to never be dissapointed." The Word is alive, it came to us as flesh in the form of the Risem Son Christ Jesus, but we have to accept that fact, and let the Word, let Christ into our hearts.
