Are we so busy that we have forgotten about our most important responsibility? Have we lost sight of what is happening to our children? Is Satan succeeding in silencing the seed?
Are we so “busy” that we have forgotten about our most important responsibility? Have we lost sight of what is happening to our children? Is Satan succeeding in silencing the seed? Revelation 12:4b says, “ ….And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.” Satan is waiting to rob our children of their destiny, inheritance, and anointing. He is waiting devour our children before they realize their potential.
Are We Aiding Satan?
While we are at church, in the prisons, and doing street evangelism our children are home having sex, experimenting with drugs, and joining gangs. Our first and most important ministry is to our family. Many are so busy trying to make a name for ourselves in the name of the Lord that we are failing to spend quality time with our children. Our children are acting up in school, being disrespectful to adults, or are withdrawn all in an effort to get attention. Our children are crying out to us through their behavior. They are telling us,” I know that you’re a minister but I need my mother/father”.
We do not pay attention to the signs. Then ,we want to blame Satan for the little girl lost standing on the corner selling her body who once was a soloist in the church. Or we want to blame Satan for the pastor’s son who is now a Blood. He no longer calls on the blood of Jesus but now has another boy’s blood on his hands. Is Satan the only one to blame? Not entirely, many of us offer our children up as a sacrifice on the altar of ministry. We are spending countless hours praying, fasting, and witnessing to the lost. All while unknowingly opening a door for Satan. If we are not there for our children, Satan will send someone to stand in the gap. Our children are being exploited by pimps, working for drug dealers, and breaking into houses…all while we are on the altar praying for someone else’s child. We need to stop spending money following our favorite minister, going from conference to conference leaving our children home to raise themselves.
Genesis 3:15:And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." (NIV) Enmity means mutual hatred.
Children of pastors and ministers are often misunderstood, scrutinized, and judged. Are they any worse than the average child? No. Of course not. In reality, preacher’s kids are born into warfare. They were born into a fight they did not start. They are anointed to crush Satan’s head. Examine this, their parents are always being pulled away to pray for someone, go with a mother to bail her child out of jail, or go visit someone in the hospital. The pastor’s family is disturbed by those middle of the night phone calls.
There are instances when children attempt to talk to their parents about what is going on in their lives. But, they are pushed to the side while their parent is pulled away to minister to God’s people.
Satan’s number one enemy is anyone who truly understands Genesis 3:15. God said that we would crush Satan’s head. We all remind him of his impending doom. We remind him that Jesus conquered hell and death. Our job, crush his head. His job, bruise our heel. Know this, there is a constant war between us and him. The trouble is, he is getting in some good hits. We are at church jumping and shouting and he is sucker punching us. Sis. Shouts- Every- Sunday’s daughter is a junkie…sucker punched. Deacon Armani Suit’s son just got looked up for stealing a car…sucker punched. Satan keeps throwing punches, it is time to wear him out!
Do all preacher’s kids rebel? No. Some quickly fall in line with the ministry. Some walk in their calling at an early age. They become surrendered to Christ almost effortlessly. Does that mean that they don’t have struggles, disappointment, discouragement, and doubt. No. All children of the Most High God have areas where they struggle. No one is perfect only Christ. So, let‘s not be judgmental. Preacher’s kids are the same as everyone else- human.
S.O.S.- Save Our Seed
How do we save the seed? How do we get back the children we’ve lost? Or how to we keep from losing those that are contemplating stepping out of the will of God?
It is time for us to clean house. Examine yourself and your family. What are the weak areas? Where are might Satan potentially enter in? The Bible says in Matthew 11:12, “the kingdom suffers violence and the violent take by force.” It is time for us to shift our focus. Do not allow Satan a foothold in your family. Watch as well as pray. Do not allow Satan to take our children. Do not just pray for them, pray with them. It is a shame that some of us have four or five Bibles and our children don’t have one. We bring our Bible to service, while our children bring Zane books. Encourage your children to read God’s Word daily, even if it is only one verse. Discipline your children. The best thing, other than Jesus that you can give them is structure. Be aware of what they are doing. Have you checked their myspace page? Do you know who their friends really are? Make time for your children. Go to their plays, fashion shows, foot ball games, be a cheerleader for your child. Let’s snatch back our children. Pay attention to the signs. All children need time with their parents, regardless of age. True kingdom building is ministering to the first souls He assigned to you, our children. Save our seed.
