Be a Leader Not a Follower!
Over the years, I have seen companies rise to perfection and I have seen companies fall to ground. Anything is possible. The ball is in your ballpark – You have the ability to turn your company around and make your companies dream become a reality. It is time to make a change! As Henry David Thoreau once said, “If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” The language of success is an easy language to learn if you put the time, effort and hard work into it.
A wise businessperson sees success from a more personal standpoint. They see success as achieving the goals and expectations they set out for their company. They experience a feeling of pride and satisfaction in their company and teams accomplishments. Success will be achieved when a group (your team) bond together as one to accomplish one specific goal in mind.
So be true to your co-workers, create communication skills and focus on achieving the goals your company has set. Success is reaching those goals and feeling accomplished as a whole (the team). As Vince Lombardi once said, “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but a lack of will.”
The Time is NOW…
- The past, present, future - Erase the old notes and bring in the new. It is time to implement a new plan and create the healthcare company you want by achieving and exceeding the goals you want your company to achieve. The first thing you need to do is sit down with your peers and figure out what your company needs to accomplish this year in order to succeed and go beyond your company’s expectations. It is important to create a strong foundation in your workforce where co-workers will understand their managers, CEO’s expectations, company goals and everyone will work together in a pleasant environment with a yearning to succeed and a passion to excel. As W. Clement Stone once said, “Achieved and maintained by those who try – and keep trying.”
- Don't Fear Change Accept it – Not everyone likes change. Change is not a bad thing – it is a good thing. Elbert Hubbard once said, “Abolish fear and you can accomplish whatever you wish.” Positive change will bring positive results. Your company’s dreams can become a reality if everyone works on the same page and exercises their mind, strength and determination to the fullest then the results will outweigh the negative.
- Manage the People Not the Environment– You need to stop and focus outside the big box for a moment. It is vital that you realize the importance of creating and managing a positive and friendly working environment that employees can do what they do best, each good employee has a special talent and energy that is beneficial to help the company on their voyage to success and that is where management should focus on. This is a different approach, which can be highly successful if implemented the right way. The goal is to achieve high levels of morale and to have employees feel eager to want to come to work and give 100 percent. Your first step to make this work is to create principles and standards, which you want your company to follow and exhibit while they are working within the company environment.
- Do not Point The Finger At Everyone Else – Many times individuals will focus on other people’s flaws because they do not want to have to look honestly at themselves. Everyone has flaws, but honestly, if everyone took some time out to look at his or her own flaws and mistakes - then took the initiative to improve those flaws than the world would be a better place. I assure your working environment, which you spend; most of your time would be more effective and productive.
- Communication Is the key - Have meetings with your co-workers on a regular basis at least once a week. Listen to what your peers have to say. Sometimes we become blinded by the light, close your eyes for a moment and have a peer guide you successfully back home (the success zone). The place you want to be. Let them know you value their opinions, listen to your co-workers suggestions, thank them for their input and try to incorporate the ones that will help strengthen and make the company run more efficiently.
- Look Outside the Box – We all have a vision. Striving to reach that vision is not going to be 1-2-3, but if everyone journey’s down the same path and climbs up the same mountain then your company’s goals will become a reality. You need to share your vision with your co-workers and make them believe in your vision as strongly as you do. If you all believe in the same vision and you work hard to achieve it then those goals will become a reality and rewards will follow.
- Do not Let Setbacks Get You Down – Every company experiences drawbacks, so you must keep in mind that every day is a new day. It is a new chance to succeed and reach the goals you set out to accomplish. You should always be grateful and thankful for the blessing that enter our lives each day. Every day is a new day and new opportunities will follow.
- Stay Focused – Always look straight ahead and accomplish the things you set out to do for each effort you make will lead you one-step close to achieving your goal. Every day is an opportunity, so make the most out of it by giving it you all.
- Be Confident – Self-Confidence will take you a long way in life as Samuel Johnson said; “Self-confidence is the requisite to great undertakings.” Belief in yourself will make others believe in you.
- Cheaper is Better - If you do not need it, do not spend it. Fancy offices “WOW” eyes will pop and they look great especially when your high school buddy who you haven’t seen in years come to visit you, but Before you spend a lot of money on fancy offices, fixtures or high-tech technology, consider other, less expensive ways. Remember, it is not the office that matters - it is the people in the office that makes the difference.
- Do not Leave Matters Undone – Discuss with your co-workers the importance of finishing a project and not leaving it undone. Once a project has begun then co-works should understand the importance not letting go undone. Unfinished projects leave a bad repore and you are not letting just yourself down you are letting everyone around you down. No matter what size project big or small do the project your very best or do not opt to do the project at all. If some in the office is not giving their all-then maybe your office is not the right office for them after all. Remember, a negative attitude is like mold is spreads quickly.
Remember the key to success is to portray your company as a loyal, trustworthy, people friendly healthcare corporation - making your clients and customers feel like they are number Uno. If you work hard to build an outstanding reputation then you will receive outstanding results. If you give off a positive attitude - you will receive positive results.
However if you give off negative impression you will unfortunately draw in a negative results. As a team you need to sit down with your co-workers and figure out what type of behavior and impressions are you exhibiting? Because sometimes we are not aware of the type of signals were letting off to others. Sometimes we may think everything is fine and dandy and others (the clients and healthcare consumers) may depict you as untrustworthy and unfriendly all because you may be giving off the wrong impressions (for example, the wrong body language, avoiding eye contact, the tone in your voice etc...) You get the drift.
Whatever the case, the power we receive within ourselves comes from the people around us. You need to work as a team with the same goals and intentions in mind. Success only comes to those you yearn for it. So let us combine our forces and become as one with the empowering motivation to succeed and go way beyond your company’s expectations. Remember, those who give in life always get back in life. As Ana France once said, “To accomplish great things, we must not only act but also dream, not only plan but also believe.”
