Lucifer was once a beautiful and holy angel who worshiped and respected God, but as time went by jealousy and greed grew in his heart. He orchestrated a revolt, leading one third of the angels against The Most High. A serious battle ensued in heaven, Lucifer now defeated was cast out together with his followers and as a result made his place upon the earth, claiming this planet as his domain.
Now known as Satan and the Devil, his sole aim has always been to prove that he is greater than the Creator and ruin every work of God. His first project was to bring sin into the world, influencing mankind to choose the wrong path. God had placed a special tree in the garden of Eden, identified as the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which was the symbol of choice. He issued a warning to man however, that the day he touched and ate of its fruits he will be guaranteed death.
Lucifer used this as his opportunity, and initiated a conversation with Eve while she walked through the garden alone. His form was that of a serpent, speaking in a very soothing and persuasive voice to distort the truth. He claimed that death was not a certainty, and God was holding her back from gaining universal knowledge of good and evil. Eve being convinced picked, ate and shared the fruits with her husband. Indeed, Satan accomplished his goal and from then on officially controlled the world.
The Devil and his minions have the ability to approach us in any form, through any means, using friends, family or strangers, even sending unsolicited thoughts to our minds to encourage us to partake in ungodly activities. Not for an instant should Satan be underestimated, for he knows our strengths and our weaknesses. In our darkest moments, he will do whatever is necessary to ensure that our connection with Christ is blocked.
Evil spirits can appear to be holy angels and for the unsuspecting, the message they bring seem honourable, except that it is actually a work of great deception. They are masters of the art of falsity and can offer prosperity in exchange for the soul. Their gifts always require that a heavy price be paid in return. If the righteous are not vigilant they too can be manipulated.
Anyone who prefers to live a sinful life, with no regard for the one true and living God is said to be a child of the devil. For Satan detests the truth, and will continually impound the mind of those who refuse to believe, thus preventing the splendour of Christ to change their hearts. Unlike God, Satan does not give the human race the option to choose right or wrong, instead he ruthlessly demands that we follow him.
God holds mankind in high regard, he loves us unconditionally and made us a little lower than the angels. We are fully capable of overcoming whatever the devil has planned for us. With the power of God, we can command these evil spirits to remove themselves from our presence. God created us to be free and joyful, but Satan’s intention is to lead us to a life of ruin. It is imperative, that an in depth evaluation be made on our part to discover the truth. If we remain naive about such matters we are destined to fall victim to the work of the Devil.
Gen 2: 16-17
16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
12How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
10But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
Matthew 4:8-10 (Matt 4: 3-10)
8Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
2 Corinthians 4:4
4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
2 Corinthians 11:14
14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
4And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
