Do you know you are entitled to a discount when you use Medical Equipment. The electric company will help people with special needs. It is for equipment which sustains life or to give a person a way to move out into the community. This information is for California only. I can only hope the other 49 states have a similar program for you to use.

This is called a Medical Baseline Allowance to help keep your gas and electric bill down.

4 steps to apply for a Medical Baseline Allowance:

(1)  Call your Electric Company and ask them to send you a form to fill out.  1-800-411-7343. If using a TTY telephone call 1-877-889-7343.

 Or go to www.sdge.com. Follow the steps.

(a)For your home.

(b)Income based

(c)Get extra help

(d)Customer with special needs

 

 

 

(2)Fill out your portion of the form and take the complete form to your medical doctor pertaining to your medical condition. (Suggestion) put a stamp on the return envelope.

 

(3)Have your medical doctor fill out the other half.

 

 

(4)Have the medical doctor’s office mail it in the self-addressed envelope provided by the electric company.

 

Requirements for a Medical Baseline Allowance:

 

Paraplegic, quadriplegic, hemiplegic.

Multiple sclerosis,

Scleroderma

Comprised Immune System

Life threatening illness

 

Medical Equipment that qualifies in alphabetical order:

 

(1) Aerosol Tents

 

(2)Apnea Monitors

 

(3)Hem dialysis Machines

 

(4) Compressors

 

(5)Electric Nerve Stimulators

 

(6)Pressure Pumps

 

(7)Electrostatic Nebulizers

 

(8)IPPB Machines

 

(9)Ultrasonic Nebulizers

 

(10)             Iron Lung

 

(11)             Kidney Dialysis Machine

 

(12)             Suction Machines

 

(13)             Motorized Wheelchairs

 

(14)             Pressure Pads

 

(15)             Respirators

 

(16)             Oxygen Concentrators

If you do not live in California call your Electric Company and find out what they have available for you.
