In the country of Cuba, everything is black or white, never anything in between. Just like many European countries, people’s doors are always open. The Cuban natives share what they have with each other; the door to their home is always wide open to friends, family neighbors and even strangers. Occasionally you may find a house or two with their door shut closed. These rare few choose to live life quietly estranged from the world around them. Whatever the case maybe they will let you know what they think and what they feel because Cubans tend to be upfront and honest, never fake, which I prefer. If someone does not agree with what I have to say then I want them to tell me honestly what they think rather than smile and lie to my face by saying “That’s wonderful, what a great idea!” Their personality speaks in their art as you will notice in many Cuban artists’ create works of art displaying the realty of the world as they envision it and not what they wished it would be.
Cuban art is truly magically. It will inspire you, bring chills down your spine and amaze you with its mystique and beauty. When you stare into many Cuban art pieces expect to see it, as is where Cuban art rarely has hidden messages imbedded into the background scenery. The Cubans are extremely straightforward and charming and so is their art.
The History of Cuban Art – Where It All Evolved
Cuban art is a diverse cultural blend of African, European and North American drawings, paintings and other forms of art. Their art reflects the various ethnic backgrounds that make up the beauty of the island. Cuban artists embrace the European lifestyle both modern and old school and incorporated it with our contemporary world in which we live and with these three components have created a new outburst of creativity and has caused millions of art lovers to crave and yearn for their work as we speak.

Cuba is an island that is full of talented people. One of those talented artists is Maykel Herrera. Herrera was born in the Village of Camavey, Cuba, in 1979; Maykel Herrera has quickly become one of the most exciting artists of his generation, earning a deserved reputation as the one of the best Cuban artists around. Herrera is currently living in Havanna. Recently, Maykel Havanna was nominated as one of the 10 artists going into the prestigious World Artist Show, to international acclaim.

Contemporary Cuban art exhibits much of the international language that speaks for our own new generation, but with unique steamy visions all of its own. Besides the elegance, beauty and true artistry, Cuban art is an outstanding way for Cuban artists to express their feelings, thoughts and their vibrations embedded deep in their souls. If the success of Cuban Art continues to evolve as rapid as it is perhaps a bridge will evolve that will enable art lover’s worldwide cross over and appreciate the unique beauty that Cuban art has to offer.
As we speak of Cuban artists, I would like to introduce another prominent Cuban artist by the name of Oscar Gato. Gato is a well-known artist in Cuba; he lives on the fringe of Havana with his wife and 11-year-old Daughter. Oscar is a passionate artist his paintings carry a very powerful invigorating message. The creativity and ability in his art is phenomenal. Gato captures detail and atmosphere in his images. His artwork is speechless and words would not do justice to his creative abilities as an artist.
Another fabulous Cuban artist is Alfredo Soria. Alfredo Soria a young inspiring artist was born on January 6, 1981, in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba. Soria graduated as plastic artist in Fernández Morera Academy of Plastic Arts in 2005. In spite of his young age, Soria has developed a successful career and has become one of the leading and most prominent artists of his time. Soria’s work is meticulous and his eye for detail is outstanding. A quality that is hard for an artist to acquire. There are not many artists, which have achieved as much as Soria has especially as quickly as he has over these last couple of years. Soria works emphasize deliberate realism. Soria’s art has been rewarded and recognized by the art community. Talent is brewing inside his soul for sure!
There are no words to describe how lucky we are to be surrounded with such creative individuals who have the capabilities to see the beauty in things most of us are blind too. They have the abilities to see outside the big box and that is truly a blessing in its self. They carry an amazing skill to take the beauty they envision and put it on a canvas, painting or object of their liking for the rest of the world to see. Artists are teachers with the innovative skills to help society rise to a higher level of understanding. Cuban artists have acquired this magnificent skill and they demonstrate this skill with the works of art they present to the world around them.
