“There are no rules”
By Robert Amoroso
Those were the insightful words of former impeached judge and current member of the House of Representatives Alcee Lamar Hastings. Mr. Hastings a key Democrat was speaking in defense of this tainted process on C-Span 2, he went to conclude ”all this talk about rules, there are no rules; we make them up as we go along”.
Ironically, Rep. Hastings and the corrupt nature of this process seem well suited to one another, as a federal judge he spent almost 10-years on the bench, until he was removed and impeached for corruption and bribery, and aside from being one of only six federal judges to ever be impeached, he’ll now also have the distinction of being a part of a process that has usurped the constitution and the rule of law.
I suspect that Mr. Hastings along with the leadership in both houses and with the Presidents blessings, believes that the “ends justify the means” irregardless of the rules, and if those rules don’t apply...they’ll simply make them up, as they go along.
However thanks in part to 24/7 cable news and the unusual Sunday session on capital hill, we the people got to witness a seamy process in action. The disturbing visuals of so called moderates and “blue dog” Democrats being whipped like dogs into line, by their own leadership, on a bill that was overwhelmingly rejected by the people, shows us that we’re a lot closer to a dictatorship then we are to a republic.
The intimidation and bribery was breathtaking in its efficiency. Last minute deals and executive orders seemed to be raining down on bewildered pro-life Democrats, who for the most part tried to convince themselves that this pro-abortion administration is willing to compromise. As the hours slowly ticked away, one beleaguered Democrat after another took to the podium, and reaffirmed the party line, and it became evident that there was no longer any pretense of process or rules.
Lawmakers who only days ago spoke of their independence and ideals in the end succumbed to pressure, and I was immediately struck by how quickly we can destroy our principles and loose our freedoms, thanks to a cowardly body of lawmakers, who’ve abdicated their oath of office and the will of the people.
Indeed, after this so called victory the president along with his bubbling vice-president, took to the podium and with a smug look of defiance uttered what might prove to be the demise of his administration “this is what change looks like”…yes Mr. President perhaps if I were living in Beijing.
Well we don’t, not yet, however thanks to this administrations spending sprees, massive government entitlements, and his ambivalence of private industries, we’re being sold “literally” to the highest bidder, ironically to the very same country that also ushered their own form of change…”the cultural revaluation”.
If we are to remain a free people, and prove to the likes of corrupt politicians, like House of Representative Alcee Lamar Hastings, that indeed there are rules, then we need to reacquaint ourselves once again, with our founding fathers and our Constitution; their words are etched in stone, all across this incredible land, they sacrificed and gave of themselves and they understood the perils of a government controlled society.
And while our lawmakers and leaders may ignore us, and try to “sell us”, and pretend to govern honestly, we the people have the final word, and yes Mr. President, come November we’ll remind you once again of your own words…“this is what change looks like”
John, Chanti:
Thank you for your individual feedbacks. Shady characters like Lamar Hastings will always be a part of the political process; they gravitate towards a system that allows corruption and bribery, and unfortunately we’ve just seen landmark legislation passed, using the same methods of corruption, bribery and intimidation.
I suspect that within the next couple of weeks we’ll begin to see just what backroom deals were actually made to get this massive entitlement passed, we’ve already seen certain states getting sweetheart deals, judgeships being given out, and millions of dollars in payback for votes cast…John Gotti would be proud.
If anyone doubts that this is a corrupt power grab of 1/6 of our economy, I simply submit these facts. Why would anyone dismantle a healthcare system that my all accounts is the best in the world? Why would anyone dismantle a healthcare system that is favored by over 80% of the people? Why would anyone put into place a similar type of healthcare system that is currently failing in Massachusetts, and is now being subsidized by the federal government just to stay afloat?
If bringing down costs was indeed the purpose of this massive bill then why not Tort reform, or purchasing health insurance across state lines? These measures would certainly bring down the cost of healthcare.
Obviously, that’s not the true intent of this administration. Obama is an extremely bright and clever politician, and understand that in order to, (his words) “transform America” one needs to do it in increments. My sense is that the healthcare reform package is simply the first step in nationalizing government controlled healthcare, and if you don’t believe me simply look at the facts.
On June 30, 2003, then State Senator Obama spoke to the Illinois AFL-CIO saying: “I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program. …. A single payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. And that’s what I’d like to see. But as all of you know, we may not get there immediately. Because first we have to take back the White House, we have to take back the Senate, and we have to take back the House.”
The one thing about Osama that I admire, is that he never lied to the American people, he told everyone (who bothered to take notice or look at his record), that he is indeed a radical far left politician, who believes in big government, and in the redistribution of wealth…those who voted for him, got exactly what they wanted…and if not, then we have a lot of uninformed and careless people in this country, who don’t bother to research a candidate…and perhaps that’s why we have shady characters like Lamar Hastings sitting in congress and clever politicians in the White House.
