Do you remember the movie “The Ten Commandments”, starring Charleton Heston as Moses? I recently watched it again, even though I’ve watched it so many times before. In the movie, there’s a guy called Dathan who, as soon as Moses led the Jews from their bondage, began telling the people that they should return to slavery. He played on their fear of change, he played on their fear of the future. He attempted to deceive them into believing that it was better for them to go back to the oppression they had experienced rather than to seek a new and better life for themselves and their children. What a devious fellow he was. The guy only cared about himself. Unfortunately, some of the sheeple followed him.
It occured to me that the Republican Party began doing the exact same thing from the day that President Obama was elected by the majority of the people. First they whispered and now they’re shouting, “We need to go back!” Yes, we know that when the Republicans were in charge, the U.S. Economy went to hell. Yes, we know that they lied to the American People in order to start the war in Iraq. Forget all about those things. We need to return to those bad decisions and failed policies. Be afraid, be very afraid … you must fear change, you must fear the future.
Of course, if you watched the movie, you know how it all turned out for Dathan and his foolish followers ... not so good. Please don’t allow yourself to be misled by Dathan the Republican Politician who wants to rule you by fear. Going back is not the answer … we must continue to move forward to a brighter future for America! The Republicans already had their chance and they failed miserably. It’s time for the Party of No to stop obstructing progress.
The only thing the Republican Party cares about is regaining the power they had misused before. This November, you can either choose to go backward or forward.
Please remember these wise words, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”.
