Earth's Future, Depends On Them

Help a Child Enjoy a Nature Experience
Sponsored by:Fresh Air Fund
The power of the outdoors on the human spirit is for all of us to enjoy, even city-dwellers. Everyone should have the opportunity to venture out into the wilderness from time to time.

Since 1877, The Fresh Air Fund has provided New York City's neediest children with free summer adventures in the country. While these children are experiencing the wonders of nature, they are also learning about leadership, independence, and confidence - skills that will last them the rest of their lives.

For some children, these camps are not only their first excursion into nature, but also their first time away from home. They need reassurance and encouragement that there is nothing to be worried about.
Summer Camp starts June 29, so the countdown has begun.
Please take the time to send a quick note of encouragement to a child today. You can share your nature stories, share advice that helps you through nervous times, or just encourage the child to enjoy his/her time in nature. Your words can be the soothing voice a child needs in order to relax, and to enjoy his/her experience at nature camp.
Earth’s future truly depends on the youth of today, and their attitude towards nature.
Please join me in encouraging these new summer campers to enjoy, and to learn, as much as they possibly can about the wonders of nature, on their brand new summer adventure.
Here’s the note I sent to them:
“I discovered the wonders of nature, for the very first time, at a summer camp for city kids, over 50 years ago. And, this summer camp changed my life, forever. Since that first marvelous experience, I still wander into 'the wild' as often as I possibly can. Nature is truly marvelous, and its many wonders are free.  I truly hope you enjoy nature camp, as much as me!”
If you would like to send these kids a note of encouragement, please click on the link below, and if you’d like to read about my summer camp experience, all those many years ago, click on my posted A.D. story: Pigs, Turtles, and Bugs!
