Above are the headlines of CNN for our world today, reading through the stories my mind went back to Anne Murray’s song from 1983 “A Little Good News Today”. This song has crossed my thoughts many times since 1983. Where is the good news? Headlines are made from the most tragic of events in our world, though for each, good news is also a part of lives each day. Are we so accustomed to the bad news the space for the good can not be found? Good news or bad we are always part of the problem or resolution in our lives. Sidelines really are non-existent. Hearing of stories which are done on impulse without forethought with the most tragic results, your heart goes out in wishes the parties would have just taken the time to breathe and step back before changing the course of so many lives.

In a job I held for many years I felt towards the end my job just did not really matter anymore, knowing the conclusion was approaching why was I trying so hard to raise the energy and do the turn around for clients soon to be history in my life, what was my purpose? The response was you can only change destiny for the better one moment at a time, it is not about tomorrow or next year, or what will pass beyond the moment. Changing a client from hostile at the end of a long day to a peaceful being again would take that client out on the road more relaxed and focused. Taking peace to their home at night could change the course of events in a life. It is not about using this moment to prepare for the future – use the preparation of life in this moment. Peace first is attained by standing still with the focus of where you are right now. What can you do in a moment of despair for yourself or another to change the energy? You are continually creating and changing the events in your life with every moment or breath you take. How you speak, react and display change is constructing your tomorrows, now. Be the example of what you desire in life and life will change to meet your desires.

My daughter took her six year old son to the eye doctor today for what she thought was a lazy eye and found out he has never seen this world in 3-D. He continually switches eyes in using them, but unable to use both at the same time. Finding out years of his touching everything around him was actually his only way of calculating depth perception which he does not have. He reads very well and fast from training one eye to read across the line and then switching to another eye to pick up the words on the next line without refocusing with two eyes, he has only learned to compensate one moment at a time fine tuning the switches in his brain which control sight to use two eyes with a rapid change over. With glasses and possible surgery, he will gain sight in a 3-D world, in the moments of today Mom needed to know peace without anguish or blame so for a day she was made a queen of sorts in knowing she had done right by her son. The past moments of his life are intact as they are; all moments forward have a goal of full sight for a young boy.

Buddha made a statement in life that all stress is either behind or before you but non-existent in the moment you are in. Change and peace are a moment of time which can either elongated from moment to moment into days, months and years of choice starting with a single sand of time. Understanding and looking at the moments of your life are the stepping stones to peace, not momentary peace but core peace – a part of you that grows larger than worry and fear. Not focusing on what you have lost yesterday or will gain tomorrow, only allowing peace to be reciprocated with peace in a greater form than just tolerance of events. Treaties which are signed in tolerance only last as long as the tolerance, treaties signed in peace last as peace. All emotions and feelings change the course of lives, which do you choose to be your banner in change? Hostility or Peace always being choices of the heart of who you are; or the intolerance of who you choose to be. What you choose today will affect all who surround you; they will feed and grow from your choice in a rippling effect.

Look again at the headlines above, you can choose either to raise your thoughts and energy regarding the headlines in resolution or accept the known outcomes as the problem. On a more personal level, what are the headlines in your life today you desire to change? List, rewrite in change and be the resolution in the process and always step back and breathe before creating another headline you do not choose to be a part of! As always, your choice and intent in painting the canvas of your life.

A Little Good News
Anne Murray
Written by Charles Black, Rory Bourke, and Thomas Rocco
1983

I rolled out this morning
Kids had the mornin' news show on
Bryant Gumbel was talkin' 'bout the fighting in Lebanon
Some senator was squawkin' 'bout the bad economy
It's gonna get worse you see, we need a change in policy

There's a local paper rolled up in a rubber band
One more sad story's one more than I can stand
Just once how I'd like to see the headline say
"Not much to print today, can't find nothin' bad to say", because

Nobody robbed a liquor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD'ed, nobody burned a single buildin' down
Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today

I'll come home this evenin'
I'll bet that the news will be the same
Somebody takes a hostage, somebody steals a plane
How I wanna hear the anchor man talk about a county fair
And how we cleaned up the air, how everybody learned to care
Whoa, tell me

Nobody was assassinated in the whole Third World today
And in the streets of Ireland, all the children had to do was play
And everybody loves everybody in the good old USA
We sure could use a little good news today

Nobody robbed a liquor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD'ed, nobody burned a single buildin' down
FADE
Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today
