Have students color the letters in the butterfly hidden
picture activity given above. Each letter should be
colored the color indicated at the top of the hidden
picture puzzle. When students are finished revealing the
butterfly, talk about how the butterfly begins as an earth
bound caterpillar. It is plain and unimpressive. But then
it goes through a change and becomes something new and
beautiful. That is what happens to our lives when we find
God through Jesus Christ. The Bible says in II Corinthians
5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature old things are passed away, behold, all things
are become new.
 
Tell the children, "You had to work to bring out the hidden
beauty of the colorful butterfly. The love of God is even
more beautiful. His love will be hidden in us unless we let
it show by the way we live and treat others." You can talk to
the children about the Golden Rule and how difficult it is to
treat everyone the way we want to be treated. Let them know
that it is only by the power of God that we can live the life
God wills for us.
