Every writer occasionally faces the problem of writer’s block. I can assure you I have, but I think I have developed a way to overcome it. When I have an idea for a new piece, I develop the ending first. I write those words that will leave my reader feeling rewarded, satisfied, and warm inside for having read my book or story. After I have achieved this ending, I write my “grabber,” the “hook” that will draw my reader into the book. This could be a prologue or just the first few sentences of the first chapter.  Once I have the rewarding ending and the hook, then the rest of the writing becomes compelling; I have to complete it. Completing the work keeps me up at night. If I get blocked in the middle of the work, I just think about my ending; what do I have to write to get me to that ending. It does work for me.
