He remembers our frame and knows that we are dust. He may sometimes chasten us, it is true, but even this He does with a smile, the proud, tender smile of a Father who is bursting with pleasure over an imperfect but promising son who is coming every day to look more and more like the One whose child he is... A.W. Tozer 1897-1963

If you are a parent this statement has to speak to you. I am Dad to a son and two beautiful girls and I am proud of them. I must admit I am not sure about the part where they are looking more and more like the one whose child he is but I would hope that God looks upon me that way. I have been writing often about the trials God allows us or maybe I should say sometimes will provoke us to endure. These are not punishments for some wrong-doings. They in fact are attempts to place us in positions which cause us to learn more about ourselves and to improve upon our own character. If my children learned nothing else in life I pray that they will realize that all of life is a series of tests, trials and exercises. We may find ourselves asking God ‘Why’ many times but the fact is we should be searching within our own hearts and souls for these answers.

I am not saying we bring upon ourselves every heart rending experience we must face. Both of my parents are with God today. The exact explanation of where they are I know not.
But I trust God for that. Their death was heartrending and I had to realize that even death is a part of life, to be more precise, the end.

My prayer is that whatever this life may throw at me will only serve to make me stronger, more patient and better able to fathom what my savior went through for me.

Jesus once said of prayer, “If you have faith the size of a mustard seed you could say to this mountain, ‘be thou removed’ and it would be done.” It is my belief that he knows that by the time we had that kind of faith we would also know when to use it and how. Move mountains? I would rather pray for the strength to climb over it.

And when I have climbed over it there will be other mountains to climb. I pray for strength to climb that one too and then the next and the one after that. One day when there is no more mountains for me to climb I will be looking at the Golden Gates of Heaven.
