Could Doo-Wap save the world?

Item 1:
Charlie Sheen was hospitalized Sunday with severe abdominal pain after a wild, all night party.  He allegedly had a suitcase filled with cocaine and many women.  To clarify, the women weren't actually in the suitcase.  He would have had to remove the cocaine first to get them in there and that ain't gonna happen.  Being the champion of moderation and feminist causes he is, I'm told Charlie is preparing for a future in politics once the acting thing plays out.

Item 2:

We all have a lot in life.  Some look for medical cures.  Others protect the public.  Others teach our children, produce products, provide services or become captains of industry.  As for me, I hold things together.  Nobody really understands the true importance of things until they step into my world.

By way of example, I was on the couch the other evening, pondering the woes of the world and envisioning solutions to all when my firend, Woodrow, called with an important question.

"What song went something like, 'dom doobie doobie dom doobie'?" he asked.

A couple of things came to mind but this would take research.  There was a song called, "Sunrise, Sunset" but I wasn't sure about the title.  However, I came up with, "Come Go With Me" by the Dell Vikings and found a sound bite for it.

Woodrow said this could be the one but the lyrics had something to do with, "breaking up is hard to do" which told me right away that it was (believe it or not), "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" by Neil Sedaka.

"That's not 'dom doobie doobie dom doobie'", I said.  "It's, 'dom doobie doo down down, a-comma comma'.  You didn't say anything about the 'comma comma' part.  It threw me off a little."

End result:  I found a sound bite for it, Woodrow was pleased and doo-wap was saved.

It's true .  The world would end if it wasn't for me.

I read that it was suggested that the writers write in Sheen's rehab issue into the script and hopefully Jake would see that drinking and screwing isn't all there is to life....

Item 2--- I know I should not make such a comment on a public space, but you reached my teenage heart. Our kids (in their 40s) could hardly believe that "Tom Dooley" was one of our very favorite songs--and everyone else's in that era--when they were planning a big anniversary party for us, and asking what songs we had liked. The lyrics stunned them.
Recently, listening to the memento CD they made for us, I realized that I actually like "Who Put The Dip in the Dip-da-dip-da-dip?" I didn't even like it when I was 16, but now it's another of those "beloved old ballads of yester-year."
And I love goofy humor, so thanks for sharing yours!
