Jan 3, 2011 Press Release: Author Yolanda Gaston Will Conduct "Healing Through Literacy" Workshop at Virgil Grissom Library...
Newport News, VA, January 3, 2011:
Local author Yolanda Gaston will kick off her 2011 Book Tour for her latest book, “Reflections of an Inner Being”, by giving the audience at the Grissom Library a sneak peek of her “Healing Through Literacy” Workshop on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 6:30pm. Participants will learn the benefits of writing in therapeutic journals and how they can aid the healing process of spiritual, marital, and many other issues.
“I chose this particular topic for the workshop because of the benefits it has for a wide variety ofpeople,” says Yolanda. “Having gone through a divorce, the loss of loved ones, and health issues to name a few, writing is what saved my sanity. I’m only trying to offer what I’ve learned to others in hopesthat they can find the comfort in it that I’ve found.”
The Healing Through Literacy Workshop will be an integral part of Yolanda’s Book Tour. The workshop is free and open to the public. In the instance of the Grissom Library, there will be no books for sale during or after the event. If participants wish to have a copy of her book signed, they are welcome to purchase a copy beforehand and bring it with them.
About the Author:
Yolanda Gaston was born and raised in Houston, TX. She first discovered her love for books at an early age. Having always been an avid reader, she naturally crossed into writing. She first wrote poetry, which is still her greatest love. Later, she found that penning short stories proved to be another strong interest. If you asked her what her favorite genre is next to poetry, she’d quickly tell you it’s Christian fiction. It was the interest in reading Christian fiction books (and the lack of great books in the genre) that prompted her to write her own stories. “As long as I write, my stories will always have a happy ending. After all, that’s the basis of the foundation of Christianity – faith. You can’t have faith without thinking that you too will have a happy ending.”
