Easter is here! Jesus has risen! What does this mean to our daily lives? As I reflect on this incredible truth I go back to Good Friday and I think of our cross we carry each day- no matter what it may be. We don't share the enormity of the horror Jesus went through, but we do share the journey of carrying whatever cross we have in life.
Sometimes there is someone who helps us carry our cross, and other times we must dig deep within ourselves and use all the faith and courage we have to continue the journey. But are we really alone during those times?
I believe Jesus knew God was with him, even in his darkest hour. Just as God is with us when the cross becomes too much. We can't carry it alone; however we do need to use the spiritual tools and wisdom God gave us to continue.
Why do I go back to Good Friday? Because only through carrying his cross did Jesus experience resurrection. Only through carrying our cross with faith will we experience the resurrection of new life! Have you ever noticed that when we go through hard times- we learn something about ourselves and Jesus if we hold on to our faith? Would we have learned this new spiritual wisdom without the cross? Probably not.
Not only resurrection during our life on earth but Jesus showed that we have eternal resurrection with him after our journey on earth is complete! What greater joy is there!
Rejoice and be glad! Jesus has made a way for us to live eternally with him! This is the day the Lord has made. Let us be glad and rejoice!
