Theodore Prime composed Burning Desire while a senior at Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. A writer of poetry since he was 12 years old, Theo often reflected upon the things a man in love thinks about but never says to the object of his affections. This collection of poems is his first attempt to capture the essence of these feelings…the yearning, the longing, the hurt, the anguish, and even the despair that torments a man who plays the game of love . . . and often loses. And while men certainly will identify with the feelings found here, it is the women among his readers whom Theo really is addressing. For it is they who finally will secure a window into a man’s heart and see, perhaps for the first time, how vulnerable men really are.

 Burning Desire is a collection of one score and ten love poems, sonnets and verse, set to the rhythm of the heartbeat of young man’s emerging awareness of the pain and elation of love.  Theodore V. Prime sets himself apart from fellow wordsmiths of his generation by candidly revealing his own growing passion for women, known only to him, as he wrote his heartfelt feelings creating an articulated gift bouquet of love.

As difficult it is to pick a favorite flower, I enjoyed and was impressed with perhaps his most terse of poems, called Loved Right.  As Theo Prime wrote:

Hold me tight

Let no love go

Kiss for free

Let passion flow

Look at me

We see the night

Release me never

Hold on tight

Apart we’re weak

United, strong

I want no right

If love be wrong 

An anthology of love poems, Theodore V. Prime shows a kind and gentlemanly generosity of emotional trust, wearing his heart not on his sleeve but rather in his book.  Conveying a sense of epic bewilderment over the forces of feminine attractiveness, one sees in Theo’s writing the respect for the bond of friendship and trust as being the foundation for lifelong companionship.
