Many years ago, when I first came online, I promised myself, that I would always gives thanks to the person or persons who visited my website...and it would be a personal thanks...not by autoresponder, which I think is the lazy's man's way of doing things.

I think three of the most important words in the world are as follows;

praise; (definition); commend of; to express approval or admiration of;

I think the work 'praise' is especially important around kids.  They're at a point in their life, where they are growing up, and finding their way around, and I thinks the more praise they get from people in their life...the better they do in learning resposibility and work ethic.  But, everyone likes to get praised for a job well done, etc.

I helped to raise two boys, and they both graduated from high school, and went on to graduate from college, and found jobs, and went on with their lives.

Thanks; (definition);  an expression of gratitude; grateful acknowledgement of something received or done for one;

"Where there is no difficulty...there is no praise."  Samuel Johnson

I am so disappointed in humanity thus far in my life.  There are so many weenies in this world...who call themselves people, that don't know how to give a simple 'thank you.'  These weenies don't know how to say 'thanks'  write a thank you note...nothing!   They're completely wrapped up in themselves...and you know the rest of the story...

When I first came online back in the Stone Age, I was as green as can be.  After I built my website, I didn't know how to market my website to get traffic to visit it.  At Homestead, which was my host, there was a Community Center, that had all the owners of the websites.  Most of the websites had guest books on them and that's what I would do to market my site.  Go around the Community Center, and sign guestbooks, etc.  On the guestbook, there's a line where the title of the website goes, so I thought the owner that I visited would see the link and hit it, and it would bring it to my website.  It all worked for many months that I used this way to market my website.

Well, what are we belly-aching about?  (sob-sob)

At the time, I didn't know there was so many thankless weenies in world, and now I would find out the hard way!  Website owners want traffic to come to their sites; they want them to come back often; they want the visitors to subscribe to their newsletters (if any)...they don't want much, do they?  And, what does the website do?  Nothing!  No thank you note...no nothing!

During this time online, I visited hundreds of websites and signed guestbooks...and I didn't even get a 'thank you' for visiting note from most of the owners, etc.  The percentage was pretty bad from a thankless world...only about 2 percent responded in one way or another.  If you send out about 500 'getting acquainted' emails, and you get back about 2 percent...you're not getting much bang for your buck...at least in wasted time, from a thankless world, etc.  I did about 30 or 40 email a week...website owners couldn't even write back and say 'thanks for visiting.'  SHAME on the thankless weenies of the world...

For those of you around the world, who may not know the definition of the word weenie, I will define it for you;

weenie; (definition)  a person regarded as offensive; dull; weak; nerd;

"I praise loudly...I blame softly."  Catherine Barkley

appreciation:  refers to the feelings of thankfulness;

To have a quality of life, in my view, you have to have an appreciation of the things around you.  The opportunity to see and feel and hear the things around you, etc.  If you're had the opportunity to have good eyesight all your life...you should appreciate it.  Others have not had that opportunity.  If you've had the opportunity to have a gift from the higher-up and it allows you to make a difference in people's lives...you should be appreciative of it!

My 'getting acquainted' jouney lasted about two years, and yes, I did find some extraordinary and thankful people out there.  So, I gathered up a couple of hundred of emails and put them in my VIP Appreciation Gallery, as my way of thanking the people who had visited my webite at the time.  I had already promised myself that I would always send a personal note to those who had visited my website earlier.  The reader can find the comments on the following link;

VIP Appreciation Gallery;

The thankless weenies of the world cannot do this...they don't know how to say 'thank you.'

I'm not a psychologist, but positive people can give praise...and negative people cannot...

When we're talking about appreciation; thanks, and praise...we're talking about the following woman, who I met about a year or so ago.  I have never met the woman, and we have just exchanged emails over the past several months.  I think she lives in Florida (is Florida a state?)  I live a thousand miles away in New Mexico. (has New Mexico become a state, yet?)

Anyway, I'll call her 'M' because that's the way she signs her emails.  And, the following are emails that she has sent me, as she has reviewed several of my articles, and the reader can see a positive, appreciative and thankful person in these emails.

I will first list the article title, and followed by the remarks by the woman named 'M.'

Humorous Exercise Quotes and One-Liners;
"PRICELESS;  I was laughing all the way through this funny write...M"

Are We Suffering From Terminal Seriousness?
"What a great write up.  You put a wealth of information in this article...M"

Toot Your Horn With Dignity and Gratitude;
"Congratulation, Jerry...you certainly are 'tooting your horn, but you certainly have good cause to do so.  It's such a good feeling, to know that others are getting something from what one writes...M

"The test of a man, is how he takes praise."  Ryan Davenport

Okay...So You're Boring!  (yawn, here)
"This write brought a smile to my face.  You certainly have done your homework and come up with something creative...M"

Japan's Problems Are the World's Problems:  "You have written some very good information topics, which affect us in our lives.  Radiation does seem to be around us and one way or another.  Some can be avoided and some cannot.  I was worried about the affect radiation would have on all the country and the world soon after the events in Japan.  Sadly, radiation is spreading world-wide.  My heart goes out to the people in Japan.  It must be terrible, for them to be living and enduring all that they have...M"

Gift of Life:  Become An Organ Donor:
"A great thinking write.  Many more need to be organ donors.  I call it a gift of life for someone who really needs help to stay alive.  A part of the donor lives through the person who receives the gifted organ.  Yes...I am signed up to ge an organ donor...M"

A Few Things I Hate In Life;
"You must be having another bad hair day.  You sure got a lot off your chest.  Are there things you like in life?...M"

Writers Often Get The Short-End of the Pencil;
 "I agree.  Writing should come from the heart, even if its read by just a few.  Sharing ones feelings is an important part of the process of living and being
understood...M"

It's Easy to Recycle: (come on, pitch in)
"Great article.  We recycle.  Luckily...our recycles are picked up in special bins once a week here...such as plastic bottles, cans, and newspapers, etc.  Old washers, dryers, metal and aluminum can be taken to the recycle place and sold for money.  It all helps to save our Earth...M."

Everyone Is Creative...and So Are You;
"We are lucky lto live in a nation and allowed to express our thoughts and concerns.  We can try out different concepts to listen or read about them.  You have a great imagination, and it's good for you to share things with us...M"

The SpaMobile Has Arrived...(beep-beep);
"I really enjoyed this write.  I think many of us want to be noticed in one way or another.  Some, like you GO GETTERS do more than most do, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that.  KUDOS...to you for trying to make a big difference in your own big way...M"

Everyone Has To Know When To Quit:
"Great write and I firmly agree.  there's a time when one needs to throw in the towel, and now is the time to stop.  Sometimes it's hard to do, but it's all around best in the end...M"

"The highest praise for a person, is to give them responsibility."  Norman Vincent Peale

Pain Is Pain
"Sometimes others just don't understand  pain...because they have not been through it.  All one can do, is to try to understand them.  Someone works off somewhere.  When I was first told I had Alzheimer's disease, I thought my life would end soon, but it's been 4 years later and i'm still here.  I have survived a couple of heart attacks and a couple of small strokes, etc.  Everything is predestined, and I think when it's our time to go, and we will travel out to the next life, which will be much better their this one was...M"

SITE MAP Learning To Give Praise 101 For Dummies;
"You never cease to amaze me with your innovative ideas.  What a great idea to make it easier for those who are interested in your work.  It must have taken a lot of time and effort to do this...M."

There you have it...and, everyone reading these emails have their own opinion.  I think 'M' is SPECIAL; a caring person; a positive person; a person who is appreciative and thankful for what she has and her opportunities...and she knows how to give praise, too, and we all can learn something from her.

As I said earlier...the negative and thankless weenies of the world, can't do this...

When I see the letter 'M' it reminds me of the job I used to have at the M&M company as a proof-reader.  (I can see it now...half the world will get this one...and the other half won't)

By the way...the only advice I can give 'M' about her Alzehimer's disease...is to stay positive...and just think...she can hide her own Easter eggs...

P.S.  The wonderful lady ('M') who wrote all these reviews is named MaryGrace Patterson, and the reader can visit her at the enclosed link;  The reviews were made over an 18 month period or so.

Dear Jerry, What an honor you have bestowed up on me! WOW and Thankyou so much!Its not hard to leave positive thoughts when some one enjoys what they read. I don't remember leaving some of the comments and quite frankly I liked reading what I had written.
Yes, there some weenies in this world( I love that consept). It taks all kinds to make this world go round and how mundane it would be if every one were the same. I think life experiences affect us and help to make us who we are. Some can never see beyond their small world, because they have not to ability to do so or choose not too. They are missing so much! Yes, you are right, not many say thanks and I must admit I sometimes fit into that catagory , as I don't send many thanks for the reviews I get...It takes so much energy to be angry. I think if one can look at the brighter aspects of life ,they'll feel better about them selves and life in general. It's not always possible to be positive, but if one can just look around and see or do something good,it can brighten their day and make a big difference.. You write about a lot of life events. It takes time and research to do them.Each article covers different areas and give lots of info.I think its a gift to be able to write and share.Once again I say thank you for this honor !It's made my day. I'd like to share it with some friends, if its alright with you....Blessings to you.....M PS,Right now I can still find Easter eggs when I hide them and am very thankful for that! (Ha)
