The American people are the most giving people in the world; giving of their money; giving of their time (volunteering); giving of themselves (blood, organ donors,etc.); and the ultimate giving...of their lives! (war,etc)

This piece is being written on November 16, HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone...and HAPPY  AND HEALTHY HOLIDAYS as well.

Giving of oneself, is not just for the holidays...the people who give of themselves...give the year around!  It's just a way of life for them.  There are people who take...and there are people who give...and it's so simple to give, therefore a person can give the year around.

On this date, I am 66 years young, and I became an organ donor in 2008.  I did so, because I can't see my body rotting away in a hole someplace and serving no purpose.  I can't see my body creamated and going to ashes...and again...serving no purpose.  By being an organ donor, I will know that my body will serve a person, in allowing another person to live;  to help cure a deadly desease; and allow another person to have the rich life I have had the opportunity to live, etc.  By doing this, it has been a feel, good, feeling for sure.  I think this is the greatest thing a person can do with their life!

I have written and posted two other articles on becoming an organ donor, which are entitled as follows;

Gift of Life; Becoming an Organ Donor;
Event Salutes Organ Donars

There are millions of people out there who give...and ask nothing in return.  I'm reminded of one of my brothers, who is just the opposite.  Many years ago, I coached a Little League baseball team, and I asked him if he wanted to be my coach and help out with the team.  His answer:  "How much does it pay?"  Needless to say, I got somebody else who was more giving of their time.

"You give but little when you give your possessions.  It is when you give of yourself, that you truly give."  Kahilli Gibran

Writing is NOT easy!

I think if there were a top ten, in the occupations, professions, hobbies, etc., that give the most...writers would be in there at the top someplace.  At least on the Internet, writers post their articles by the thousands...and with people all over the world who read them...they get the satisfaction that their articles and other writing pieces, have made a difference in someone's life someplace in the world.  Writers string those words together to inspire; motivate; entertain; inform, educate or get a few giggles along the way.

Writers all over the world, give of themselves, by posting their writing pieces FREE of charge, to make a difference in some way in other people's lives around the world!  They ask nothing in return, except for the satisfaction they get in having people read their writing pieces...that feel, good, feeling that cannot be described.

"The value of man, is what he gives... and not what he is capable of receiving."  Albert Einstein

I began writing seriously at the end of 2006, and I still call myself an aspiring writer.  One of the pieces I wrote in the beginning, is a piece entitled;

Here's the Skinny On How I Lost 40 Pounds

Of the 300+ articles in my portfolio (to date), this has been my dominant artlcle.  For over three years, this article dominated and was #1 at three different places.  At the directory, it's over 8,000 hits/views in front of second place!  I thought this article would never lose the lead...but it did!

Making a Difference In People's Lives By Writing;

This is the article that took the lead in May, 2010, and has left every article in the dust!  This is so amazing to me, because the previous leader had a two year start on this piece.  It's so ironic, because this piece is about writing...and that's what I do...I try my hand at writing, etc.

Article title: Money Is the Root of All Evil;

Free Market vs. Paying Markets in Writing; Early on in writing, I had to decide, if I was going to go into the Free Content market and give my artlcles away...OR go into the Paying Markets.  I chose to go into the Free Content market, and I've been there ever since.

If I had gone into the paying markets, I probably wouldn't be in writing anymore...I would have quit long ago.  I would never satisfy editors and publishers and my style would have been wisked away with rejections...trying to satisfy someone else, etc.  I've never been in writing for fame and fortune, so it has been an easy decision for me. (article directory)
This is where I started, and there is no better satisfaction, than to see your articles published all over the world.  Over 100 (different) of my articles have been published on more than 500 websites on the Internet.  All given away...

Articles Published Page;

"If you can't give to 100 people...then give to one."  Mother Teresa

Is the glass half full...or half empty?  Everyone will decide for themselves...

Positive people vs. Negative people:  I don't like negative people around me, and I quickly show them the door.  They always talk about what they can't do; many of them are people of put-down; gossip; critic of everything; they will be-little you and say what you do is unimportant; unambitious; never accomplish much of anything with their lives; and walk away when the issue of accomplishment comes up; they live a life of denial...always pointing the finger at's always somebody else's fault.  Prisons are filled with this type of people!

I don't use profanity in my life, so the only thing I can call these type of people are negative weenies of the world.  I'm not a psychologist, but I don't think this type of person can give praise; say thank you...or do much of anything else.

I like postive people in my life...with a 'can do' attitude;  People who have ambition; people who start and finish a job; people who are 'learners and doers'; people who give more than they take; people who are not materialistic and who only think about money and the next profit, etc.; people who get the satisfaction of helping others.

In 2005, I never dreamed I would be homeless..but at the age of 60, and after six job layoffs, I had hit rock-bottom.  For the first time in my life, I lived in a homeless shelter and stood in a soup line for over two months.  I remember, one of the things I thought about at that the fact that I was grateful that I had a roof over my head...and that I had a meal on the table.  Someone is doing this kind of volunteer work to help the unfortunate

"Life is a gift, and it offers us the opportunity and responsibility to give something back by becoming more."  Anthony Robbins

It's simple to give something as small as a nice comment, and to make somebody feel good.  Over the years, I have received hundreds of comments on my work and my website.  Listed below, are just five of them, and take a look at how simple it can be to make somebody feel good...I don't do this to be bragging or to be arrogant.  I do this to show how simple it can be to make someone feel good about themselves, etc.

" appreciation to make people smile."  Gail

"Jerry, thanks for the gigles."  Mary (Australia)

"Jerry...I like your pages.  Great humor and fun to read."  Ronald

"Great site, Jerry...and I have book-marked it, when I need a chuckle."  Bill

"I enjoyed visiting your site, and found it to be very creative and inventive."  Emily; Editor;  New Mexico Magazine

Website name; humordoctormd;
Humor and cretivity just seem to go together

VIP; Very Important Person Gallery; This is where and how I thank the people who have been so gracious with their comments on my site and work, etc.

"It's important to give it your all...and while you have a chance."  Shania Twain

Earlier in this piece, I spoke about the negative and the positive people, etc.  Talk about the positive...I met a wonderful woman online about two years ago, named MaryGrace Patterson.  And, she and her husband live in Florida and I live in New Mexico.  Over those two years, MaryGrace has written reviews on several of my articles.

She has been so gracious in her comments about my work, that is has all so inspired me to continue and raised my confidence to a new high, etc. (remember, I'm an aspiring writer)   But, how could I pay this nice lady back for everything she has done for me?

One day, I got a great idea (which is rare for me), and I thought it would be nice to write an article about her and her positive comments and how she gives so much of herself.  So, that's what I did.  I wrote the article as a trubute to her, and fortunately, the piece has done well.  It's kind of like a co-written piece between her and me ..she put in all the wonderful comments over an 18 month period, and I dotted the 'i' and crossed the 't'.  So, if, by chance you want to be more positive in your life...and give more along the way...this woman will show you how to do it...

Remember, earlier I spoke about some people just do what they do, because it's a way of life with them?  That's what I think MaryGrace does...she does what she does because that's just the way she is...she gives you that feel, good feeling about yourself.  I encourage the reader to go and read this piece, and you'll come away feeling good as well.

Learning To Give Praise 101 For Dummies;

And finally...the only advice I can give the reader about don't do what my brother did and said, "How much does it pay?"  Trust me...being an organ donor...doesn't pay well...

Hi Jerry , I am finally back on line and once again you have wowed the socks off from me! You are sure boosting my ego and from time to time,I can use a big lift. When I read a persons writings I say what I feel. I don't always agree with what others think and I try to let them knoew the best way I can with out hurting their feelings. I enjoy reading the articles you write! You put a lot of thought and time into each write you do. Your work covers large areas of life events and are interesting. You have something to say and you say it! As for giving , you also give! It's much easier to give and then one will reap the benefits full circle.It takes lots of energy to be negatinve and it's much easier to have a smile and be nice. No, we have never met and probally never will. Sometimes a person comes along and touches ones life in various ways ! Being a writer and being on the Den offers one a chance to put their feeling and concepts on paper. It's a good tool and an outlet for all to express their thoughts and feelings. Thanks again Jerry. Keep on Keepin on! Blessings to you!...M P.S. Yes, I sincerely think its better to give than to receive!
