Anthony Kapel "Van" Jones is a former White House adviser that recently resigned his position in disgrace because of past comments and militancy. According to Wikipedia, “After his White House appointment, Jones began receiving criticism from media sources such as WorldNetDaily and Fox News commentator Glenn Beck, who featured Jones on fourteen episodes of his show. They criticized Jones for his past political activities, including his involvement with STORM (Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement) and his support for Mumia Abu-Jamal, a prisoner sentenced to death for murdering a police officer.” Wikipedia further notes that “Jones came under additional criticism for his name appearing on a 2004 petition from 911Truth.org that suggested the Bush Administration ‘may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen’.”
Recently he has made additional controversial comments and comparisons. Jones, a self-confessed communist, compared the Arab Spring movement, a tsunami of violent protests and crusades in the Arab world, to the Wall Street movement calling it an “American Autumn” movement. He emphatically declared, “You can see it right now with these young people on Wall Street. Hold onto your hats, we're going to have an October offensive to take back the American dream and to rescue America's middle class." Seems that Van Jones is a brainchild behind the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement.
“October is going to be the turning point when it comes to the progressive fight back,” Jones bragged on MSNBC show The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell, “We are a part of something called the American Dream Movement. We’re having a huge summit on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Come—you can go to rebuildthedream.com and find out more about it. We are going to build a progressive counterbalance to the Tea Party.”
October has come and gone and his “American Autumn” including the Tea Party counterbalance he bragged about has provoked little more than an interesting but malodorous conversation piece at the water cooler. But the OWS continue to get support from the Democratic party including Nancy Pelosi and Barack Hussein Obama.
The President commenting on the OWS, “I think it expresses the frustrations that the American people feel that we had the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression, huge collateral damage all throughout the country, all across Main Street, and yet you’re still seeing some of the same folks who acted irresponsibly trying to fight efforts to crack down on abusive practices that got us into this problem in the first place,”
Mr. President, you’re the leader of the free world, but sadly you have displayed poor judgement by giving credence about how our financial system works to so called disenfranchised groups that are counted in the hundreds - not millions. The President of the United States, in spite of his own prejudices, should represent equally the rights of all citizens including all the races, the rich, the poor and the main street middle-class!
