Be careful what you wish for in the instance of horror and sci-fi movies

I watched and dozed a little through an old 50's horror or sci-fi flick last night.  I'm not sure which category giant creatures fall in.  After the movie I found out the name of it and it was supposedly a "classic".

Don't get me wrong, I love horror movies and sci-fi flicks especially the pioneers from the 50s and 60s.  Somehow this movie had passed me by...thank goodness.  It was only on because my mother, a war movie buff, thought is was an old naval movie.

Very often I wish for more scientific reasoning in a movie that is scaring us into checking under the beds and closing all closet doors after all dolls are placed in them or leaving us cringing about what will happen if a bug gets in our chemical cleansers which is one of the reasons I use eco-friendly products.  This movie explained many, many, many, (nod-doze), many things that were going on.  So be careful what you wish for.  Maybe this movie is the reason other movies don't try to explain everything to death.  They want the monster or alien to die not the viewer of boredom.
