Nora is going through a very difficult time in her life. Until now, she had everything she could ever want. She is married to the youngest attorney general in Massachusetts state history and they have two lovely daughters. Nora’s world starts to fall apart when she and the whole world discover her husband is having an affair.

Nora was humiliated and tormented by the press. The only thing she could do is get away. Nora and her daughters leave for Burke’s Island off the coast of Maine. Nora spent five years on the island in the past.

In addition to the problems Nora is facing, the story also includes a mystery about the disappearance of her mother many years ago. Her father refuses to talk about it. There are many interesting characters on the island some of which are a little suspicious about Nora’s intentions for coming there.

This book grabbed my attention right off the bat just by the picture on the cover. All I had to do was read the first couple of pages and I was hooked. The author’s writing style is excellent and she does a wonderful job with her descriptions of the sea. The characters are well drawn and the reader can feel the pain Nora is going through from her husband’s infidelity. What really makes this book interesting is the way the author adds the mystical secrets throughout the pages with a touch of Irish folklore. I want to read more books by this author and will be looking forward to the next one.
