Taking chances (risks) with your ideas can be SCARY...especially if your ideas are going to be in the public realm. Taking chances (risks) with your ideas, can get you humiliated; embarrassed; and a little 'egg on your face.'

For much of my life, I didn't know where and when Halloween originated, so I went out on the Internet, and did a little research, and I wrote the following article...Halloween originated in Ireland and northern France in the 14th century.

Halloween; Trick or Treat

Back in the 1990's, my wife and I took out boys (ages 10 and 12) to a Halloween Party at the local elementary shcool, and it was one of the most enjoyable nights in my life.  I wrote about it in the following piece, which is my #1 article, of the 360 articles I currently (August, 2012) on hand, having been published on over 40 websites on the Internet.  This piece has also been listed on the Authors Den Featured Page in the Parental category...for over two years.

Halloween Party;  The Two-Headed Monster

I don't know if Halloween is considered a holiday, but it is one of the most creative day around, because millions of kids; young people and adults dress up in their scary costumes, and try to SCARE others. IIt makes a lot of fun for all ages.

This piece, is about taking chances (risks) with your ideas, and I took a chance in 2009, when I wrote the following piece.  I took a chance, because of the title of the article; and because of the subject-matter.

Constipation; Saying Hello To a Costly Enema

The performance of this piece has been shocking and amazing to me over the last three years since I wrote it.  I almost didn't write the piece, because of the subject-matter, etc.  But, I chose to write, to help people...and this was one way I could help people sharing my experiences...both good and bad.

I never thought this piece would do well (hits/views), and could make it to the middle of the pile on the charts...say #150 to #175 in rhw rankings.  BOY,  WAS I SHOCKED, when I say this piece break into the top 20 articles (hits/views), and it sure got my attention over the next few months.  About a month later, this piece broke into the Top Ten articles on my list at the time, and now I was wondering If this piece had the right stuff, to go on and take the lead of all my article.

I kept a close watch on it over a couple of months...and when this got into the #3 spot...I realized the YES...this piece had the right sutff, to take the lead.  I was shocking to me, that this piece even got this high.  Over the three years, since I wrote it, I never thought of changing the title (a title that I never liked) because I never thought the piece would do much as far as popularity, etc.  BOY, WAS I WRONG

This piece took the lead in the Spring of 2012, and never looked back.  There was nobody more SHOCKED than me.  Here was my #1 article, and I didn't like the title.  But, what would I chance it to.  I had nothing in mind at the time.  This piece not only took the lead among my articles, but it broke into the Authors Den Top 100 List and occupied the #96 spoit.  That spot would not last long, as it quickly moveed up the charts...reaching the #3 spot at its highest ranking.

The piece also broke into the Authors Den Top Ten List in the Health/wellness category, and has been there about two months.  This piece is also listed on the Authors Den Featured Page.  This is the only article that I have written, that has appeared on all three charts, etc.  The AD Top Ten List; the AD Featured Page and the AD Top 100 List of thousands of writers.  Amazing!

Taking a chance (risk) with an idea, can be SCARY...just like if it ain't BROKE...don't fix it.

In the first part of August, 2012, I took a chance with an idea, and I paid for it.  I changed the title of a humor-related article, which had been listed on the Ad Featured Page, and the piece fell off the next day.  Two weeks later, the piece was still off the Featured Page, so I changed the title back to what it was before.  The article re-appeared the next day.

With respect to the article on constipitation, I had now changed the title, after the article dropped from the high of #3 to #5.  This is the first time, I had ever done this, but I still couldn't find a title I liked.  The piece then dropped into the #10 spot, and I felt, at this point, that I had nothing to lose.  FINALLY...after about two weeks, I found a title I liked, and I went with it, as shown below; THREE TITLE just two weeks...

Preventing a Stroke; NOT EASY

This piece also appears on the AD Top Ten List in the Health/wellness category;  (see above link)

This piece is also listed on the Authors Den Top 100 List (scroll down page) AND the AD Featured Page

And, it's really true ...if you take chances (risks) with your can be SCARY...just like Halloween...and if the idea is out for public can embarrass and humiliate yourself.  S-C-A-R-Y, EH?
