Well this is the first blog for Social Studies. What a trip this has been for getting this book off the ground. The genesis of this idea came over ten years ago, when the Columbine shootings happened. My only ideas then though where a mix between Die Hard in a school, and the title Social Studies. Thankfully, that was not the finished project. After working as a student aide and teacher for years I got a better understanding of what the kids were like, what their emotions were which helped produce a much more genuine product. Social Studies in the present form does not have you cheering for the good guys and rooting against the bad ones, but hopefully will make you sympathetic to both sides of the fence. It is a tragedy but more so because some of it is true. Tomorrow I will tell you about some of the true events behind Social Studies.
