Kidding Around
“Unless you become like little children, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” These words came to mind as I was playing with my two little grandchildren the other day. I figure, first – you don’t get through ‘The Door’ without humility – It’s a must, as is pure unbounded hope. When I got down into ‘child mode’ I realized that everything became possible – my imagination could take me into pretty well any situation or dimension I could think up, and there was no problem that couldn’t be solved by bringing in a superhero, a magic wand, a special power, or a doctor! It is impossible to take yourself too seriously as you don your google glasses, hat and cape, your fake wig or moustache, and chase after the villain with your hockey-stick-sword in hand! Suddenly, you are thinking up all kinds of situations to solve and places to explore, and whatever solution or plan you come up with works! You get to experience mini eureka moments – great exercise for dealing with problems back in the real world. Speaking of exercise - the sheer energy that that involves, both physically and mentally is worthy of a trip to Heaven! Hats off to you parents!
In the grand scheme of things, these moments may not change the world; On the other hand, putting a smile on a child’s face is adding a pretty important building block to the castle!
