" Know When to Let Go?"

Letting go of toxic relationships and unseemly habits that hinder our personal growth and success demand courage and persistence.
Life has many challenges, and one of the most serious challenges we face at one time or another is letting go.
This can take so much effort and energy on our part, but until we release our stronghold on the past,and get rid of the bad habits developed over the years,we will not accomplish our dreams or reach our goals.
True, some parts of our past are invaluable to our present and future,and we know exactly what those parts are, and of course, they are used to help us reach our goals.
There are, however,other parts of our lives that need to be released, dropped, because they no longer serve a useful purpose,if they ever did.
Acknowledging and confronting these aspects of our lives, whether they are toxic relationships, or unseemly habits, demand honesty and courage on our parts, because the toxic people may be quite comfortable with things exactly as they are, or we too may find a degree of comfort in the 'routines' we have created over time.
Granted,some routines are good,but many hinder personal development;we know the difference.
At some point along life's journey of personal fulfillment,we come to that "fork in the road" where we must choose to move forward, thus letting go of the mistakes, missteps of the past, or remain where we are, knowing that where we are is not where we desire or need to be for health or success.
We cannot get what we want in life while clinging to the past and hoping for something better,something different.
How do we know when we need to let go? Honest answers to the following questions should help us determine when we need to release those toxic relationships,and our unsavory habits:
1. Am I truly happy with where I am in my life right now?
2. Am I doing what I enjoy and do best?
3. Are the people in my life supportive and encouraging to me?
4. Do I find myself giving much more in my significant adult relationships than I receive?
5. Do I consistently "shake things up" so that I am challenged to think and act more creatively?
6. Are my thoughts directed more toward my past or the things I desire now or for the future?
7. Have I acquired new skills, or recycled old ones in new ways, that will help me to reach my goals?
These questions,and others like them,will help us to identify those relationships we need to release or modify (if the people involved are relatives)and the things we need to drop/release so that we can become more focused on the dreams and goals that will allow us to live the lifestyles we desire and deserve.
