Political Blasphemy 3/31/2008 10:47:40 AM If we were all like a Walmart Staff Meeting, America would be so much better in media and social behavior. Make Lebron James look like a big ol' black ape. Make Barack Obama's former minister look like an unruly unappreciative black militant hothead. Make all white women love Hillary Clinto just because she's a white woman, regardless of her stretching the truth about her trip to Bosnia while she was first lady.
Make John McCain a savior while the pastors he hooks up with tell everyone who doesn't believe as they do that all non-heterosexuals are hell-bound, and make Fox News Sean Hannity seem like a guy who is impartial and fair looking at all of the facts of matters that have only one side....HIS.
But you know as we go through this electoral season, people are just getting tired. And if in the case of my formerly supporting Hillary Clinton before, as an independent, finding out what Barack Obama could do when it came to standing up to pressure, there's no way that I could remain in her camp any longer. There is no question that this nation needs to look beyond what the media puts on magazine covers, what editors place and replace and remove in international sound bytes, and what we feel is right and wrong because, face it, over 4,000 people have died in the middle east since this "unholy" war began. Over 2,200 kids have no more mommy and daddy and grandma and grandpa are doing the best they can with what they have.
While on the city bus the other day (trying to save gasoline in my car) there was an Iraqi vet on his cell phone arguing about why he had to pay for his post traumatic stress syndrome medicine that costs him close to $90 when the VA told him that he'd pretty much be covered.
Well, according to this man whom I just had to speak to after his conversation with "John Q Non-Public Interest" it seems that regardless of whom he spoke with, his troubles always ended up where he began. Back at the VA hospital and staff members who could barely speak English who were supposed to be treating him for something they deemed "not necessary."
A man goes to war and needs medicine to keep from losing his mind because of the way and someone says his treatment is "unnecessary?" Oh well, I hope that one day I don't see this man's face on the front page of USA Today because he snapped and went into a mall or a hospital or a newspaper office and shot everybody up before shooting himself in the side of the neck. And I wish this was fiction but everyone who reads this blog plus myself knows time after time of people who just "lost it."
And guess what y'all....the ones who didn't die, (the more than 50% of kids who died in Iraq under the age of 25 years old) those who DO come back are not going to be altogether "there." War is not an X-box. Three of the 35 or so students whom I taught in a public speaking class at IU East back in 2004 were either back from Iraq, on their way to Iraq, and worried about taking care of their families if they had to return to Iraq.
One young man said it was wrong for the government to call "friendly fire" something like "oops! we hit our own guys!" One wrong coordinate later, working on no sleep (and I'm not exaggerating this at all y'all) no sleep for FOUR DAYS AND NIGHTS STANDING GUARD DUTY???? And a bomb falls from a plane on the good guys camp, kills six of his friends, they have to bury them all and they can't tell because it will make the US look bad?
Anybody can get shot on the streets of America without going to war. In fact isn't America in a war within borders? Is not this nation so spiritually and economically and educationally unfit that we cannot take care of our own, and the only way to do it is to keep a war going so that we can give out paychecks to the families of the ones who make it back, but still don't have enough to live on?
I guess all of that previous paragraph comes from a guy whom I wish had more momentum than John McCain--and that man I hope will be named a VP candidate for the Republican party...Gov. Mike Huckabee. Here what he has to sensibly say about Rev. Jeremiah Wright without judgment.

Oh, and Obama's church is not B-L-A-C-K as a denomination--I wish just because I'm a black woman people who stop thinking that I attend a black church. (Where in the bible did Christ even say anything about "black or white church." It's GOD'S, not man's or woman's and people need to get back to the business of LOVING people and not condemning them by playing God.
The lie about Obama's former church pastor:
