This One is Going to Hurt [but hopefully help] 2/22/2011 9:12:36 PM Here RB finally ... finally addresses the deception of "homeownership" when you are actually in a structured residential compound, sometimes worse than normal living apartment situations where people are far too cognizant of who they are and under which circumstances they live.... a rental unit. " Oh nooo! I don't have an apartment. I live in a CONDO!"
Heh...Heh....Yeah ......
I'm one of your "turn-of-the-century" movie-goers who watched the motion picture of the mid-eighties freeze-frame on apartments ....resuming after the renovations to no longer be such apartmental denigrations, but to be "condominium apartments," and later "condos", where instead of paying $500-600 a month, you pay only $350,000 - 525,000.00 a month.
" But, noooo! Nooooo! It's not like that. I 'own' this!"
But, so does the average poor or middle class apartment/property renter answering to a landlord. But, in your case, my sophisticated, informed, and wise-investing brother/sister, you just answer to the "Bored."
That's just to say you just answer to people who're so bored that's they need excitement. To achieve this, they put a red hot pitch fork up your ... er ... posterior to keep you jumping at their every whim.
This is not homeownership. This is paying several hundred thousand dollars just to get less respect and worse treatment than sane people who know what they're up against.
But, no ... not you, my convenience-centered, free-living brother/sister. For you, it's better to have a red hot [even a white hot] prod to keep you on your high-falutent
plateau, then it is for you to descend to the peasant bowels of an apartment.
But what freedom do you really have? What do you really own? It's certainly not this glorified apartment or enigmatic rental since, at any time, you're eligible to be kicked off the property by the politically correct, squeaky clean, celibate "commune."
Oh..oh..my bad....I meant "association."
I've worked in and around true homeowners ... and even homerenters ... who've enjoyed quite a bit more freedom and independence than this ..... for a few hundred thousand dollars ......LESS.
If you really want to own something, other than leasing out an apartment unit or a townhouse called a "condo," the market is now wide open for you to do so.
No one "owns" a condo. It's a retro delusion. It's just an apartment or just a rental, from which you can get evicted.....any time.
The "Bored" won't change, since it's yearnings for excitement are insatiable. Unless you've got secret masochistic, "beat-me-baby-I-love-it" tendencies, then it's probably a good idea to get a real place you can own for a change.
You've got the money. My big question to you is this: how smart is it?
