Honest to God this is all true.
I was in a fine restaurant the other night, and I came back from the menís room with a confused look on my face.
My date asks me whatís up?
I say, ďWell, Iím just in the rest room and after a while I noticed a big sign they had in there that said:
Please flush toilet paper only.
Honestly, by the time I noticed that sign it was too late and I was not about to apologize to ďThe Management.Ē
Iím thinking, ďWhat is the point of a menís room?Ē
Now this morning I took a client to the eye doctor.
In the waiting room of the eye doctor there was a big sign.
It said this:
No Cell Phones
Now that is not likely to strike anyone as unusual, but there was one problem.
There were three youngsters right there in the waiting roomÖplaying football.
Iím not talking about tossing a football around. Iím talking about a long pass on 3rd down trying to get at least a first down if not score big with a TD.
They were playing football!
This is the waiting room of an eye doctor, pairs of glasses all over the place, people who probably might need help seeing a football coming, and an active football game going on. It wasnít like they were without parents-their mother was there.
You know what kind of role model she was?
Iím not exactly a football expert, but Iím guessing she was a defensive end.
She only jumped in after a turnover. I couldnít believe my eyes.
I move to the back bleachers of this waiting room for safety.
After a while the father shows up. Iím waiting to see how he reacts to his family playing a football game in a doctorís office waiting room.
Turns out this family has itís priorities straight. Dad becomes quarterback.
Dad and Mom seem like a nice couple. I notice some holding but hey, Iím not the referee-not my call.
The mother leaves, gets in a van and goes. So Dad was a replacement.
Now as this is all going on, another Dad and young son come in. With them there are no contact sports, no flying projectiles, no water boy.
You know what these two did?
The father gave his young son his cell phone, and the son sat there quietly playing games on it. I was comfortable with that. That made sense.
So I didnít mention the big sign forbidding cell phones.
