Trust or Love, Which Comes First?

I have been thinking today which is more important or which comes first. It seems that these words are often spoken as important, but seldom realized inside ourselves. We do not easily trust ourselves, our life or others. We feel at times separate and alone. We often suffer in silence. We sometimes know love, but it seldom stays with us.
It is my feeling that trust is more of a basic need than love is, for love springs from trust -- trust within ourselves that everything is perfect as it is. Even the so called ugly events in our lives have merit and purpose. The problem is that we have divided minds and we separate things rather than see it all as an holistic process that is trying to bring us back to center or love. We choose to avoid the pain in life because we do not want to see where we are responsible for being out of relationship with the whole of existence. We are too proud to be vulnerable and trusting even in the seas of doubt.
Because of this we have lost something very vital and precious: a sense of being whole, connected and a part of existence. Instead of being naturally ourselves we are carbon copies of others' impressions, education and ideas. Originality dies when conformity rises in a person. We are no longer a living soul, a cell in the universal mind, just another part in the machine of existence that others have constructed for us. We have become slaves to our doubts, fears and the ideas of others.
Without trust you cannot grow in awareness of yourself, your life or existence. You live a second-nature life, a false life that is hollow and empty. It cannot fulfill you or nourish you deeply. It can help you get by, but just barely. It never will make you feel alive, because it is counter to real life.
Real life is fully conscious and present. It is never just a thought or an idea. Descriptions are not the thing itself, but a secondary label trying to describe what can't be fully known in words. Real life is a relationship you must cultivate inside yourself, an experience, a knowing. Words are empty without experience to back them up and a heart to proclaim them.
You can speak about love all you want, but if you have no trust, no experience of it inside you, living and breathing inside you, then you are hiding behind false words and impersonating a great lie to yourself and others. It is our lack of trust in reality, a knowing trust that prevents love from being experienced in ourselves and others and shared. The circle of life has been broken and we are all disconnected and it hurts.
