Being in Love

MAGIC OF LOVE AND INTIMACY
... for most people, is easier said than done. I try in my blog to be honest and insightful about things and I share my heart with my readers. At times, being in love is a challenge -- to be in love and reap the benefits of loving another person can feel as if you are one inch from slipping into hell or an abyss. It is so easy to blame the other person for our pain and grief. We do not want to admit it is our fault and that we have to change our way of relating. We tend to avoid our responsibility at all costs for our own failure to grow in a relationship.
Trusting another person is a risk that we do not easily accept. Hell, we barely trust ourselves, or God, or the Universe itself. Life at times seems like a cross between hell and madness with periods of blissful happiness. We are not sure yet what life is all about and even who we are. We use the word love loosely and we are putting the cart before the horse. We don't know love -- we are seeking to find it, or understand it and not lose it.
When it comes to another person we have to be vulnerable to discover trust. We have to risk revealing all the gory details of who we are and share them at the appropriate time. It will seem at times that things come up that you dread or fear to share and it is precisely those things that stand in the way of a deepening love. If you are really in love, a force inside you has called you to be with a person to learn about yourself, to heal the split we all have inside us. It is an opportunity to complete your journey of awareness in partnership and to learn your depths of joy and sorrow cradled at times in the arms of a lover.
It is a wonderful joy, being in love with another person and, as each experience attests, a sense of expectation of fulfillment grows with each challenge as it is faced. Your mind can't explain it, but your hearts know that you are following a path in uncharted territory to discover something about yourself and each other. People who do not know love struggle and fight and abuse each other constantly. Their minds yearn for a mystery that their hearts can only know. They are not ready to surrender because they believe falsely that they already know the answers. No one knows the answers, there are none. Life simply is and it reveals itself when you take the risk to love.
