20 years - a brief look back and yes, at this moment
1/28/2011 5:09:39 PM
The wonders of Computer work and yay! a Book announcement...
Here we go...almost the end of January and lots of snow to show for it...after a perfectly White Christmas, we slid into the new year and new decade rather quietly: I sat holding my cat on my lap and he dozed from eight in the evening exactly until midnight...he woke up, I got up, and there was one big boom noise..somewhere someone shot either a big firecracker or a gun -- either is possible here.

So I said hello to 2011 and drank a toast with mineral water.

OK, I snortle just a little at this point. But! here comes a thought: exactly 20 years ago I got my first computer..it was small and cost $2000.00 and had Word in DOS and I quickly found out that typing on a typewriter had been archaic...the editing possibilities! oh, what wonder!

From then on I got yet more serious about writing novels than I had been...although I have to confess I still have several full manuscripts - typed and handwritten - which I never transferred onto a computer yet.

So much to do, so little time...the years passed, I won awards for my historicals -- actually, each one I submitted to the national contests placed in the finals, six times altogether. That is now ancient history as well.

When I found out about print on demand (POD) publishing hitting the internet in the late 1990s, I was very excited. Prepared three historicals for digital publication...Theo's Ghost and Lord Eaglebeak were published that way in 2000 and in 2002, I followed through with Leonora...the big one!

Theo and Lord Eaglebeak each took about four years to write...Leonora took ten altogether..lots of research, lots of polishing...and most wonderful: a few rave reviews and loyal reader/writer friends!

In 2005, I cancelled the contracts for these books for solid reasons which I won't mention now...it was disheartening...actually, made me very depressed...but then fate took over and life got very difficult...I only managed to write one more story and publish it: Wild Violets...yet, here I am telling you that I decided to start new!

So...starting last October I pushed hard and prepared these three historicals for a new release...a new lease on my life as writer.

A new chance for you, the reader.

Tonight I was able to post the first newly published book here: Lord Eaglebeak!

The other two shall follow soon.

And yes, I'm smiling...usually, I forget to stop and relish the moment for all the work I have, but right now...I am happy. Please be happy with me and for me.

Thanks!
gina
