I am an AMERICAN! 3/22/2010 1:21:44 PM Inspirational speech about Americanism applicable today or in the past. I am an American. When you cut me, I bleed red, white and blue. I was born on the 4th of July and I celebrate every year with fireworks and flags. I proudly fly the flag of my country for which my father and forefathers fought so hard. I have been lucky in that I was born on this shore. I did not have to hide in the bottom of a ship to get here. I was not smuggled illegally across the border. I was born here. America is in my genetic makeup. I am an amalgamation of Prussian, Russian, German, English, French, Jewish, Irish, Scottish and Dutch; pure American. The efforts of my forefathers will never be forgotten by me. Until the day I die I will fight for the freedom that was fought for so dearly by them. I will not succumb to the desires of those who wish to take from me that which is mine. I am an American. My dream in life has been to make it all on my own. I dream of a life where I am free to choose my religion, my friends, my associates, my ocupation and my past times. I dream of a place where anything is possible if I only work hard enough. I dream that I can be everything I want to be if I only try my hardest. I have no time for those who say "give me" because they do not want to waste the effort to make it on their own. I wish to share with those who have less only if they are in that condition because of circumstance; not because of inaction. I am an American. I take care of my own. I do not expect the government to provide for me. That is not their job. Their job is to "provide for the common defense", "promote the general welfare" not to pay my car payment, provide me with a 12 room house or give me a job for life. I am the descendant of people who have been slaves to others either through slavery or indenture. I wish to enjoy my freedom knowing I cannot be enslaved by others or sent into serfdom. My ancestors came to this country to enjoy the freedom of the rule of the people. I do not aspire to live in a country run by a king, dictator, or slave master. I am an American.
I believe in truth and justice and the American Way. I am an American and I will never willingly give up my freedom to those who want to take it. I am an American and I still believe in God. I do not want God banned from our schools or our government buildings. I believe in prayer and I do not want anyone telling me that I or my family cannot pray if I so choose.
I am an American and I will die fighting to live like an American.
