Sorting Out The Local Candidates Running For Office. . .
8/18/2007 11:18:47 AM
I am always sorting out life realities. The political climate in Palm Springs, CA is such that I am sorting it all out . . .
In the next weeks and months I’ll be sorting out the credibility and professionalism of our local candidates running for office. This blog will allow me the opportunity to share my information, and beliefs. I’ll attempt to look at things that are important to me. The candidate’s endorsements, political party and marketing materials have little impact on someone such as me, who has spent much of my career assessing management personnel in an attempt to find the right candidate for the job. My management consulting and marketing background can’t easily be turned off (www.BrightReflection.com). However, my assessment will not be formal or comprehensive, but rather the opinion of me, a resident of Palm Springs.

I will be looking at their education, experience, communication style and most of all their professionalism. Are they problem-focused or solution-focused? What is their communication style like? Do they fault find, shame, and blame others? Are they able to attack the problem and not the people? Are they passionate about Palm Springs or passionate to be in the political arena? Can they take a ‘one-down position and hear the other side out’? How ‘fragile’ are they? When the going gets rough, can they withstand the pressures that will surround them? But most of all . . . ARE THEY A CANDIDATE FOR CHANGE, that doesn’t mean a candidate to change things, although that's part of their responsibility. But rather, do they know their shortcoming and therefore are a candidate for change? What evidence exists that indicates they are the right candidate for the job? For me, it’s a lot more than just the issues.

I am not much of an opinion poll person . . . I sort life out for myself. However, I do treasure honest thoughts and opinions of others, so please feel free to write healthy communications regarding your thoughts about the candidates. Any opinion will be accepted as that and it will provide me with information to sort out.

STILL SORTING . . .
.
