Book Rating System for Teens

As I traveled from bookfair to bookfair this past summer the one question that potiential book buyers asked the most was can my kid read this book? or what is the age limit?
I was happy to say that Escape 2 Earth is not a childrens book but it is kid friendly meaning it does not contain profanity, sex, or drug use.
When pressed I told the parents that the content was similar to a Harry Potter novel. The age span of those who have enjoyed reading the book is from 13 to 57.
Later I wondered why we have a rating system for TV, movies, video games, and even rap music why not books? It would be a win win for everyone.
I think it's an idea how's time has come.
