Old Blog Entries

I am deleting my old blog at another site and will be adding the old entries I want to save here at AD.

I have often been accused of being a dreamer, I make no denial of it, however I am not an ostrich with my head in the sand. I see reality, possibly more clearly than some who accuse me of visioning only dreams. I see that the world can be a more beautiful place because of dreams, because of the beauty we create around us and freely share with others...even those who are intent on being angry, vengeful and violent. I do not believe our existence is doomed to constant war nor that war is the solution for world peace. I make these statements in complete confidence, in bold print, in broad daylight. Here I am... LA BELLE ROUGE, undisguised and not at all traveling incognito. Here I am, stating that a peaceful world is a possibility and I don't believe we have to kill each other off to find it. Here I am stating again loud and clear and without shame, the war in Iraq is not the solution to any problems, domestic or foreign. This is my blog, if you visit here you will just have to listen to my dreams and my logic, if this upsets you there are plenty of opposing and more warlike opinions here on AD that you can read.

Many Vietnam Vets proudly served in a war they didn't understand. They eventually saw the futility of that war and would tell you so without hesitation today. I KNOW they would because I know some of them personally. Many died young there and FOR WHAT CAUSE? Many returned home damaged in body, soul and mind and FOR WHAT CAUSE? They would tell you today of suffering needlessly a lifetime and having to fight legal battles to even receive the care and compensation entitled to them by a government that refused to deliver it. Many of them will tell you that this war in Iraq is as ill advised and futile as the one in VietNam was. Of course soldiers who are engaged in a war must tell themselves they believe in it, otherwise they would refuse to fight. Some truly may believe this war is right, others are trying to convince themselves over their common sense and intuition that the war has validity. Time and history will tell the truth about why this war is being fought and the wisdom or ignorance of fighting it. This war is not worth the lives or our children, our generation has betrayed them to useless destruction by political posturing and patriotic rhetoric. What wise person could actually believe the way to deliver a nation is to indulge in a wholesale destruction of their civilian population! There will be a multitude of Iraquis and Americans damaged forever who with hindsight will ask "FOR WHAT CAUSE?"

Anti-Americans are those who can not tolerate any ideologies that differ from their own. America is a melting pot of ethinic origins and philisophical, spiritual ideas. Anti-Americans are those who label their countrymen with derogatory names, such as Anti-Americans, liberals, communists, socialists, lefties, because they don't agree with the war in Iraq or some of the present administration's policies. I am not in favor of the war and certain other policies, and let me say one more time so it just might be heard, I am neither Anti-American or any of those other derogatory terms I have been called. Some who want to push so hard to continue this war and are screaming "My President, right or wrong" will be shocked to find themselves one day under martial law. Of course you who continue to support the President won't be carted off to the concentration camps, the prisons or mental institutions like those of us considered dissidents. Dictators always find a way to silence their detractors. Will American progress into the fourth reicht, where all the challenging voices are silenced? This is the direction we are heading in and all the zealous flag waving and patriotic slogan screaming won't help us then.

Perfection?
9/24/2004 6:07:45 AM
Not Me....Or You

What is it with people who expect others to be perfect? Have they never looked in the mirror and accepted the faults so obvious there? Are they so scarred emotionally that only by emphasizing the shortcomings of others, they can feel some sort of perverted elation and find their worth by devaluing others? Perfect I am definitely not and it took me a lot of years to realize I never would be, when it was being demanded of me from all sides. Now what you see is what you get and if perfection is what you must have to appreciate and respect another, please avoid me and bear in mind someday you will be totally alone with your imperfect self in your imperfect world

Matching Tears
9/23/2004 5:45:31 AM
Being A Mom Is Tough

I never had a little girl, I muddled through raising two sons who now are men, towering over me but still owning my heart like they did when I towered over them. Now I have suddenly acquired a little girl, or at least to me she is a little girl. To herself she is an emerging woman. Preteen and premenstural 24/7 it seems and with her own very strong ideas about everything!

Last night,my granddaughter, who is living with me, and I, went shopping together for some new school clothes. She has earned the name "Petite Princess" (You can read her poetry here on AD) with her diminutive, gorgeous looks and by being a royal pain in the fanny.

If you've never gone clothes shopping with an eleven year old girl, trust me, you don't want to. Everything I liked, she hated and vice versa. It was a standoff from beginning to end but we did manage to compromise on a nice pair of jeans and a matching top. How that happened I still don't know but we both found out, no matter how wide the generation gap or the age difference we both cried some very similar mother/daughter, matching tears of frustration but at the end of our uncomfortable adventure we loved each other enough to kiss and make up! They say having children later in life will keep you young, I say it will keep you young or kill you while you are still too young to be considered old.

Long Days
9/17/2004 3:46:47 PM
Mama told me there'd be days like this but she didn't say they'd last six months!

I've had long days before, days that just went on and on, melting into weeks and months, but these last few months have been grueling. Sometimes we fight against situations in life that no amount of worry or resistence will change. Sometimes we do the "Right" thing and suffer greatly for it, it is those times we have to remember that had we done the "Wrong" thing inwardly our suffering would have been much greater. There is a place within, where peace reigns and almost like someone with a near death experience, we look down on all the turmoil that surrounds us and miraculously feel it doesn't matter in the eternal scheme of things. We can be weighted down in the material sense but spiritually we soar. Tonight I am soaring, above it, beyond it. Compared to eternity and the immortality of the soul, even a lifetime is only a puff of quickly disappearing smoke. We are so much more than the problems that plague us or the burdens we are forced to bear in a lifetime of years. We are defined by spirit which only lives within our bodies and has the capability to transcend beyond the earthly ties and burdens. No I'm not drinking or smoking anything, just feeling a little high.

Why? - 6/28/2004 8:08:52 AM
I Can't Help But Wonder

I canít help but wonder at times, what kind of life people must be living when they canít seem to find anything better of more constructive to do than disrespect and torment poets on a poetry board! They must have a very pitiful existence to have to lie awake at night and think of new ways to be disruptive and disgusting. If they spent all that energy doing something positive, their world might change in time. Why dwell on negativity and why on Earth desire to hurt others, especially if you have experienced so much pain in your own life? I canít help but wonder but I never come up with any answers, other than mental illness. Guess some people are just too crazy to realize they're crazy.
