Thinking Back To The December 19, 2009 Snowstorm ( Blizzard )

The story about the December 19, 2009 Snowstorm.
The stories of snowstorms past, present & future.
Most of us on the East Coast, including the middle atlantic & northeastern states experienced one of the most memorable snowstorms in history on December 19, 2009, the big weekend for Christmas shopping.
From varying accounts that I have heard in some places the snow began either as flurries or light snow that Friday night and flittered in the wee hours of that Saturday morning, although I was out food shopping that Friday night. Peeking & peering out the window I myself did not see anything. I woke up at 6 A.M. and it was just a covering of snow on the ground. But when I looked out again at 8 A.M. there were several inches. As the day went on the intensity of the snow grew, approaching what i would consider white out conditions, only for it to exceed in intensity. this was a storm that appeared to just keep on snowing, until the storm finally ended, all told 30 hours of contining snow fall. All told, 2 feet feel in those hours.
I was living in Virginia when the Super Storm of March, 1993 and the Blizzard of January, 1996 blanketed this area,
but I do remember the winter of 1960-1961 when it started snowing, leaving snowfalls upon snowfalls that winter, with the remnants finally disappearing in early May of 1961.
I also remember the Winters of 1976-1977, 1981-1982, 1984-1985 & 1993-1994.
During the Winter of 1984-1985 I was living in the Middle Peninsula of Virginia in the Gloucester / Mathews / Middlesex Counties area. That winter marked the January thaw the first week of the 1985 New Year, which turned out to be the calm before the storm, because all I remember afterwards was severe cold with snow falling just about all the time with snow plows & other snow removing equipment almost in constant operation removing any snow that had piled up, creating huge mounds of snow & the air filled with sounds of that of of construction site in continuous operation.
So, presently the January Thaw is upon us, with historical weather records indicating actual proof of it. From what I can gather, this again maybe the calm before the storm, as long range weather forecast's for February & March indicate a brutal period of weather.
