800 vetoes! 2/4/2012 9:24:17 AM Mitt Romney's political ad brags about all those vetoes he signed when he was governor of Massachusetts.
Minnesota is one of the next caucus states so we've been getting some extra added attention from Romney, Santorum, and Paul. Romney's latest brags about vetoing 800 bills when he was governor of Massachusetts. Well, you know it's a liberal state so those pesky democrats were probably trying to pass some spending bills to build bridges, roads, etc.
Mitt has been called a moderate Republican since he started running, mostly because of Romneycare, and he's trying to show those right wingers he thinks he needs to win that he can be just as much of a "do nothing" politician as his partner in crime, Tim Pawlenty. Pawlenty used to hold photo ops for the press just so he could wave his veto pen in the air. looking like he'd just discovered cold fusion. One of the bills he vetoed was a gas tax the democrats passed after the 35W bridge fell down. It was passed over his veto when five Republicans sided with the democrats. Pawlenty showed the kind of person he was when he made it his business to make sure those traitors didn't get the Republican nomination again. This man really wants to be president some day, most likely so he can make us a Christian nation again (albeit we never were one). BTW, that's Santorum's goal, too.
Romney also stuck his foot in his mouth again the other day when he said he wasn't worried about the poor. There's a safety net for them; he's more worried about the middle class. Well, fifteen percent of us are either below the poverty line or hovering around it. That's forty-six million people. Some of them live in their cars; some live below a bridge; some live inside a doorway. This is an outrage in the richest country in the world.
Also for someone who opposes socialism, maybe he ought to take a look at his own religion. It's about as socialist as you get. Those commercials were a real gas, weren't they? Especially those done by all those black people who weren't even allowed to join the church until just recently. I wonder how many of them know that. I actually like Mormons, at least a lot more than I do the irritants who come to your door asking if you've been saved. That's a nice way to get the dog sicced on you. They're taught to be respectful; it's one of their gimmicks. You have to give them credit; they've done a lot with very little. Utah was basically a desert and everybody loves The Morman Tabernacle Choir. Brigham Young should be applauded for those achievements, except for that little massacre of that wagon train that he may or may not have known about. Joseph Smith, on the other hand, was a con man from the word go. It's all in Fawn Brody's bio; she ought to know, she was raised Mormon; she was also excommunicated for writing it. I won't even talk about the so-called golden tablets nobody but Joseph ever saw. How about the time (times) he was caught diddling an apostle's wife. The next day or so he came up with a devine revelation allowing "spiritual" marriage.
None of this disqualifies Romney for the job; I actually prefer him to the other three chuckleheads. But don't try to play the family values card just because you've been married to the same woman for forty-two years. If you have any values at all come out against the constitutional amendment in Minnesota outlawing gay marriage. After all, all men (and women) are created equal, aren't they? And 800 vetoes are too many for a man who's going to break the gridlock in Washington D.C., don't you think?
