WHY SETTLE FOR TEARS or HEARTACHE? 10/13/2009 11:22:58 PM In our world today, it appears that majority of people have the Hollywood perception of marriage, which is fond of fairy tales but short on reality. Marriage is a soul commitment, however, if the foundation that makes marriages successful is not standing on love and cooperation, than it will not have longevity when outside negativity threatens it. Everyone wants love, and a loving family, but many do not want to make sacrifices that are needed to gain love and quality lifelong partner. Could it be that responsibility scares so many of us into running away from what is right? Marriage and family is a big responsibility, and with job security and employment in decline, we divest such possibilities of a better tomorrow and replace much needed optimism with pessimism. Marriage is a joined venture that requires two responsible adults to ensure its success. Infidelity is a costly and painful sickness that impels a peaceful and loving heart to disrespect and lash out with uncontrollable vindictiveness. The divorce rate is astronomical among Americans, almost as if we have forgotten the capacity to love each other. I understand that society can put pressure on a marriage by impelling disparity and self-ishness on one of its members. Society can persuade a woman into believing that just because she makes more money or is more academically intelligent, that she should be the ‘man’ in the marriage. Society can have a person believing that their sex is good and that they need to abandon their marital vows and be unfaithful to each other.
In addition, before all the pieces of the puzzle are align to make our marriages work or families strong, we have to look at marriage and why we as Americans are failing to make our marriages work or see the value marriage has on our nation. First, let us examine the statistics for a marriage; statisticians have inferred that over fifty-percent of marriages end in divorce. Now this can be discouraging for those who are in love and want to be forever with their partners. Although the statistics does not have anything to do with ethnicity, it appears that white and African-Americans have contrived the essentialities to marry, but are fail miserably to understand the conditions to make a marriage work. Marriage is a beautiful expression if the participants have their priorities in order. When couples rush into marriage, many of them wake up each morning depress, stressed, and discover the possibility that they have married the wrong person. The book, Early Departures for the Sun is available through Amazon.com, www.buybooksontheweb.com, Borders, Walden Books, and hundreds of media outlets around the world.
