A Mother By the Book

My home is where my heart lies,
trembling at times from daily struggles.
I am a teacher… no guide, or books,
to flip through on well needed input.
Oh, but there is one book that stands all
alone; The Book, with paper thin pages,
Gold trimmed and Blessed- announcing:
“Train up a child in the way he should
go: even when he is old, he will not
depart from Me.”
I am a Disciplinary, directing with
grace, to gently lead them on their way.
I often feel like a Drill Sergeant barking orders!
It would be much easier to let them rule the day.
But in the Book it clearly reads, “Spare the rod
spoil the child.” I don’t think this world needs
Six more juvenile delinquents, running
amuck in the streets raising cain.
I stand as an Example, must pick and choose
my lifestyle. If Mommy can do that, so can We!
“Let no one, look down on the youth, but be the
Example of the believer’s, in the word, in content,
in charity, in spirit, in faith, and in purity.”
Things I do, show a message, I must strive to be
Angelic in my children’s eye’s. I once thought
labor was of tremendous pain, but now I see raising
my children is where the real work begins.
I am simply a Mother, in love with her children.
I love them when they hurt, kissing booboo’s away.
I give them hugs, when they are sad,
soothing away their sorrow.
I listen with open ears, as they ramble on about
their day at school, or their imaginative stories.
“Remembering without ceasing I work with
faith, and labor in love, and Patience, of hope
in Christ, with my sight high on Our loving Savior.”
“You are my portion, Lord: everyday I
will strive to keep your message alive!”
With, The Good Book under my arm
I am strengthened to venture out,
knowing as I journey through mother hood
I will not walk alone.

As parents we all need a little help to instill in our children the right steps twards becoming adults, for me it all lies in withing the pages of The Bible, a map to help my journey.

Write on! If you're raising your children "by the book" what an awesome mother you are! I love the picture! God bless you as you take on life's most important job...that of being a mother.
