Eulogy of an Angel

As she spoke to me
I saw a beautiful woman
Long, straight and silky black hair
Almond colored skin and hazel honey eyes

Her Latin heritage was evident
Magnifying that strong Catholic conviction
She must be an angel herself
The way that she came to my aid

I was obviously struggling to get my groceries in to the van
Why did no one else seem to realize that I needed help?
Did they fail to see the cast on my arm, or did they merely refuse?

Yes, she must be an angel
Who else would allow me to invite them in for tea?
She showed no fear of a crippled stranger

She sipped her drink and made me smile
Did her blood begin to feel warm?
As the poison began to run its course

A silent death
Eyes screamed in horror
Feeling her body being ravaged by the pain

Looking upon her body now
Wondering if she considered that
The Devil himself is nothing more than a fallen angel

Wow. This is, all I can think of is the word, 'tough'. I never expected that ending to this. Unreal. Really good.

Eric---whoa. This was very profound. Cut right through me. I read it twice.
