My Letter to the Past

The childish games and frivolous things

that amused me so much back then, I must let go

To open the doors of exploration into what life has to offer

It’s the next chapter in my life called “stronger”

And as I maintain focus and grow with altering paths

I simply must become the master of my own fate

Patiently waiting for subliminal lights to turn green see,

In my head, I follow the navigation of a different GPS

The road back to university life

has caused me to see my daughter less

But I guess that’s the price that needs to be paid

If I am to retrieve the papers I left there back in the days

Scattered thoughts about places of employment fill my head

While conquering the forgotten streets

that remain littered with dead fills yours

Hopes and dreams of those disposed

Life stripped from their souls because dissenters overcame the sandbags

In order to flood the scene and witness the descent

back down to earth as it’s witnessed by those who’ve made it

I guess we should name it, but some how the anonymity of it

Leaves the space for whichever condition is inserted to breathe

Yes failure does reproduce

Mainly when the search for the soothsayer

is over come by the naysayer

So the naysayer says it’s you player

who will help Me feel better about the truth later when I realize

that I’m not doing a thing with my life

You seemed to get it right

but that doesn’t mean your light shines any brighter than mine

we’re one of a kind because we grew up together

No brother, no matter what my heritage

these endeavors that I’ve chosen to bear with until success is afforded

is nothing like you recording your life on the streets

hoping you can compare to me

I made it, you’re wasted
