See the young girl called Innocent
Heart all aflutter
She’s going to pin her hopes on one dream
Gathering water with a sieve
Collecting sand in a shoe with no sole
Some things can’t be caged
Yeah, most things won’t be caged
Wild birds
Wild game
Wild love
She picked a wild one
And she knows it as she feels her expectations
Thrash against the bars
One step, two step, three step, four
It’s small in here and
She imagines what it’s like to soar
To get back what she gives
Maybe even tenfold
Lying at the bottom of the cage
Tired and spent
He locks her in with no particular key
And leaves again
The wild is no place for Innocent’s dreams.
