Willow walk with me
Leave your love the river
To run her solitary course
From bottomland to sea.

Willow walk with me
Legends say you can
Shake off the long green leaves
And take the shape of a man.

Willow walk with me
Tell of your love who drowned
And makes you weep
And spend your life eternally
Beside the waters deep.

Tell me how she fell
When the hurricane came through
And though you tried to save her
There was nothing you could do.
You could not move, could you?

Willow wipe your tears
And hear me when I say
Though you'll not find her here
You'll be with your love one day,

When all goes to the source
And all is reunited with the core
And all is peace forever
And discord is no more.

Your very good Jerry. Not just saying that. Thanks.

This, Jerry, is simply beautiful. I love your perspective and empathy. I love the kinship with nature and how "flowingly" you've expressed it. You might enjoy my 'Faces in Trees.' In the meantime, I am eager to read more of your work.

The willow is my favorite tree and your words brought it to life as I have always visioned. Well done!

Moving, fluid, and plangent. Moving enough I suspect that the willow may no longer weep.

Great imagery and meter, the rhyme scheme threw me in places but did not detract from my enjoyment. Another good one!. Mal.

Again, excellent work. Please forgive me if I make this observation. The last stanza just doesn't seem necessary.. The poem is fine without it, and says all that needs to be said.. But I still love it!

We share a spiritual likeness.... I've walked upon this path, danced with the leaves of a willow, sat beneath the shadows of comfort, and still, I wait. (Thank You)

It bears repeating: you DO have the soul of a dreamer.. and a mind that so beautifully guides you to convey your thoughts to the reader.. I always get such vivid mind pictures when I read you. Thank you for taking me with you and the willow. katy.

Yes perhaps the soul of a dreamer. Perhaps. Well written and definitly well structured.
Fluid and coherent different to my favourite styles yet nonetheless enjoyable

Although this piece is somewhat haunting, as it gathers momentum it adopts a rather soothing quality which makes me want to sigh. Few things in life are perfect. This is one of the few.
