Tonight I wished upon a star
As skylight twinkled and
The remnants of an exposed sunset
Blushed and hurried into hiding
The air chilled, the wind silent
And one stark star against a tranquil blue background
One wish, sent up to that tiny northwest star
As fireflies began to peek and play
Shades of pink and yellow fade
Blending seamlessly into the array of blues of night
As the one white star stands alone
With one pure wish sent forth tonight
