This is a lyrical verse I wrote shortly after my mom passed away. She was my first experience with death of a person close to me.

Mama, were you afraid when Jesus came,

or did you tremble with excitement when the angels called your name?
Did they wrap you up in glory, or is it only a story,
Mama, were you afraid when Jesus came?

Mama, was there a light to guide you home,
or alone in the drakness, must you now roam?
Were there harps playing sweetly, or angels to greet thee?
Mama, was there a light to guide you home?

These questions I've pondered, since the day that you passed.
And mama, I'm sorry, but I just have to ask,
is there really a heaven, a life after death,
or is it just the beginning of eternal rest?

Mama, with angel wings, do you now fly,
or for the rest of eternity, must you now lie?
Did they give you a mansion, fit for a king,
or is it all just a story, a simple mans dream?

These questions I've pondered, since the day that you passed.
And mama, I'm sorry, but I just have to ask,
Is there really a heaven, a life after death,
or is it just the beginning of eternal rest?

Oh how this touched my heart and brought me back to the experience I had with my mother's spirit, after she'd "passed on".

She sent her love from the world beyond this one,

Proving that a new life had surely begun.

And I too, have visited that place, during a surgery on my spine

For a few moments I returned Home - to where Love's Light Truly does shine.

Your Mama is surely in a better place.
